ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಸನ್ಮಾನ್ಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ.ಬಸವರಾಜ ಬೊಮ್ಮಾಯಿರವರು ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನೌಕರರ ವೇತನ/ಭತ್ಯೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ನೌಕರರ ಪಿಂಚಣಿ ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ.ಸುಧಾಕರ್ ರಾವ್, ಭಾ.ಆ.ಸೇ (ನಿ)ರವರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 7ನೇ ವೇತನಾ ಆಯೋಗವನ್ನು ರಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ನೌಕರರಸಂಘದಿಂದ ತುಂಬು ಹೃದಯದ ಅಭಿನಂದನೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ನೌಕರರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಪಿಂಚಣಿದಾರರಿಗೆ “ನಗದು ರಹಿತ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಭಾಗ್ಯ” ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಷ್ಟಾನಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಮಾರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಒತ್ತಾಯ ತಂದರು 2 ಸಹ ಇದುವರೆವಿಗೂ ಅನುಷ್ಟಾನಗೊಳಿಸಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳು ನೀಡಿದ ಭರಸವಸೆಯಂತೆ ಕೂಡಲೇ “ನಗದು ರಹಿತ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಭಾಗ್ಯ” ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ನೌಕರರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಪಿಂಚಣಿದಾರರಿಗೆ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಜಾರಿಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Bengaluru: Through its Dr Rajkumar Eye Bank, Narayana Nethralaya has been able to create awareness about the importance of eye donation since 1994. Now it has launched an exclusive number – 8884018800 – through which those who wish to pledge their eyes as a donation can register their names.
This exclusive number has been set up by the Dr Rajkumar Eye Bank of Narayana Nethralaya. Pledging eyes means making a formal and voluntary commitment to donate eyes after your demise. Those who wish to pledge their eyes as a donation have to give a missed call to 8884018800. The eye bank will send a link to a form that has to be filled out to complete the formality of pledging. Once the form is filled out and submitted, the intended donor will immediately get an “eye pledge certificate’ and further instructions for eventual eye donation.
The exclusive number was formally launched on Wednesday by film star Raghavendra Rajkumar , who lost his younger brother, popular star Puneeth Rajkumar, two months ago. Puneet Rajkumar’s eyes gave sight to four people, thanks to a new technology adopted by Narayana Nethralaya.
Raghavendra Rajkumar announced the launch of the exclusive number at the Samadhi of Puneet Rajkumar, where he along with some of his family members had come to pay his respects and perform rituals to mark the punyatithi.
Addressing the media here, Raghavendra Rajkumar said the many including him realised the kind of social service done by Puneeth only after his demise. “Today Puneeth is more seen as a role model by the people than an actor. My father used to often tell us – Vaidyo Narayano Harihi , which means that a doctor should be seen as a form of Lord Narayana. I believe in this. I am grateful to Narayana Nethralaya, and in particular Dr Bhujang Shetty for creating so much awareness among the people to donate eyes,” he said.
Dr Bhujang Shetty, Chairman and MD, Narayana Nethralaya said the hospital’s eye bank has witnessed a huge swell in eye donation pledges. So far more nearly 12,000 people have pledged their eyes. “I am expecting at least seven lakh people soon to pledge their eyes with the missed phone call facility we have launched today,” he said.
Dr Shetty said that ever since Puneet Rajkumar’s eye donation, the number of people volunteering to pledge their eyes has surged dramatically. The generosity of the actor has inspired people, he pointed out. For the last 25 odd years, Narayana Nethralaya has been running an eye donation pledge programme.
Dr Shetty observed that offline pledging is a cumbersome process. Many people may have good intentions but don’t know how or where to pledge their eyes. The helpline would encourage more people to donate, he added. Dr Shetty also said the number of eye donation pledges in November 2021 was 10,000. This is a record of sorts in Karnataka, he pointed out. Now it has touched 12,000.
In November 2021, 234 eyes were collected from the donors and up to December 27th the number collected had been 209. This month, so far more than 2,000 people have already pledged their eyes. Previously, in a month, the eye bank would only get anywhere between 100 to 200 pledges.

ಪವರ್ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಪುನೀತ್ ರಾಜ್ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರ ನೇತ್ರವನ್ನು ನಾಲ್ವರಿಗೆ ಅಳವಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದ ನಾಲ್ವರಿಗೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾರಾಯಣ ನೇತ್ರಾಲಯದ ಡಾ.ಭುಜಂಗ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಪತ್ರಿಕಾಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕುರಿತು ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾದ ಮುಂದಿನ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿಂದಿನ ಪದರಗಳನ್ನು ಬೇರ್ಪಡಿಸುವ (ಸ್ಲೈಸ್) ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರತಿ ಕಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದ ತಲಾ ಎರಡು ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡಲು ನಾವು ಬಳಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.
ಮೇಲ್ಪದರದ ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಲ್ ಕಾಯಿಲೆ ಇರುವ ಇಬ್ಬರು ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇಲ್ಪದರವನ್ನು ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಆಳವಾದ ಪದರವನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಎಂಡೋಥೀಲಿಯಲ್ ಅಥವಾ ಆಳವಾದ ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಲ್ ಲೇಯರ್ ಕಾಯಿಲೆ ಇರುವ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಸಿಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಾಲ್ಕು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಪುನಃಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ನಾವು ಎರಡು ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾಗಳಿಂದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಕಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಈ ರೀತಿ ಒಂದೇ ದಿನ ಒಬ್ಬರ ಕಣ್ಣನ್ನು ನಾಲ್ವರಿಗೆ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ಇದೇ ಮೊದಲು ಎಂದು ಭುಜಂಗ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಲ್ಯಾಮೆಲ್ಲರ್ ಕೆರಾಟೊಪ್ಲ್ಯಾಸ್ಟಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯವಿಧಾನ ಎರಡು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ತಂತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದೆ.
ಡೀಪ್ ಆಂಟೀರಿಯರ್ ಲ್ಯಾಮೆಲ್ಲರ್ ಕೆರಾಟೊಪ್ಲ್ಯಾಸ್ಟಿ (DALK) – ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾದ ಹೊರ ಅಥವಾ ಬಾಹ್ಯ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಲ್ ಡಿಸ್ಟ್ರೋಫಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆರಾಟೋಕೊನಸ್ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಯುವ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಎರಡೂ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾದ ಮೇಲ್ಮೈ ಪದರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರುತ್ತವೆ, ಆದರೆ ಕಣ್ಣಿನ ಆಳವಾದ ಭಾಗವು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಮೇಲಿನ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಲಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ರೋಗಿಯ ಎಂಡೋಥೀಲಿಯಂ ಅನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು. ಇದು ಕಸಿಯನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.
ಡೆಸ್ಸೆಮೆಟ್ನ ಸ್ಟ್ರಿಪ್ಪಿಂಗ್ ಎಂಡೋಥೆಲಿಯಲ್ ಕೆರಾಟೊಪ್ಲ್ಯಾಸ್ಟಿ (DSEK) – ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾದ ಒಳ ಅಥವಾ ಆಳವಾದ ಪದರವನ್ನು ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾದ ಒಳಗಿನ ಪದರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರುವ ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಲ್ ಎಂಡೋಥೀಲಿಯಲ್ ಡಿಕಂಪೆನ್ಸೇಶನ್ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಇಬ್ಬರು ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ, ಎಂಡೋಥೀಲಿಯಂ ಅನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸಣ್ಣ ಛೇದನ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲವು ಹೊಲಿಗೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ರೋಗಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಆರಾಮದಾಯಕ ಮತ್ತು ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಚೇತರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅವಕಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರು.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಳಸದ ಲಿಂಬಲ್ ರಿಮ್ (ಕಾರ್ನಿಯಾದ ಸುತ್ತಳತೆಯ ಬಳಿ ಕಣ್ಣಿನ ಬಿಳಿ ಭಾಗ) ಅನ್ನು ಲಿಂಬಾಲ್ ಸ್ಟೆಮ್ ಸೆಲ್ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ರೋಗಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಕೆಗಾಗಿ ‘ಇಂಡ್ಯೂಸ್ಡ್ ಪ್ಲುರಿಪೊಟೆಂಟ್ ಸ್ಟೆಮ್ ಸೆಲ್’ಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಯೋಗಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ರಾಸಾಯನಿಕ ಗಾಯಗಳು ಆಸಿಡ್ ಬರ್ನ್ಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಗಂಭೀರ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಬಳಕೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿದೆ ಎಂದೂ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

Minister Dr K Sudhakar pledges eye on World Health Day and calls for eye donation movement
Bengaluru: Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar pledged to donate his eyes on Wednesday at World Health Day function.
Welcoming this noble gesture of the health minister, Narayana Nethralaya Chairman and Managing Director Dr K Bhujang Shetty, who is spearheading the eye donation movement, said, “this admirable step of our minister will go a long way in raising awareness about pledging of eyes and actual donation of eyes to bring sight to thousands.” At a recent function in Narayana Nethralaya Dr Sudhakar had asked Dr Bhujang Shetty to take the lead in state-wide eye donation campaign and formulation of guidelines.
Nearly 50% of Karnataka’s eye donation collection is carried out by Narayana Nethralaya, and last month Kannada star actor Shivarajkumar pledged his eyes and received donor card from Dr Bhujang Shetty at Narayana Nethralaya. “Eye donation does not just bring sight to a person but benefits many more and we have the technology to make maximum use of harvested cornea,” Dr Bhujang Shetty said.
“Eye donations had almost trickled to nil during the last year’s pandemic period,” said Dr Shetty . “I am hopeful that timely pledge and appeals by important people will encourage people to donate eye,” he felt.
A walkathon was organised by RGUHS in front of Vidhana Soudha on account of World Health Day. Dr Sudhakar said that the decision to donate eyes on this World Health Day has given him a sense of fulfilment. He appealed to the people to come forward and donate eyes. “Our donation may be boon for others. This is a noble cause, and everybody should register themselves to bring a ray of hope for others,” said the minister

The 34thNational Eye Donation Fortnight was observed by Narayana Nethralaya to increase awareness and encourage eye donation.
Termed as “Accelerated Laksha Laqshya”, this annual observance aims to reach One Lakh corneal transplants by 2020. The commemorating event held today was flagged off by a bike rally and attended by eminent leaders from the Indian Armed Forces and former Chief Justice of India.
Poster making and blindfolded clay modelling activities were also held in which over 250 children from 12 schools participated.
