ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that are common among animals. In rare cases, they are what scientists call zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from animals to humans. The viruses can make people sick, usually with a mild to moderate upper respiratory tract illness, similar to a common cold.

SYMPTOMS

• Sore throat • Fever Runny nose • Headache Cough Feeling of being unwell For those with a weakened immune system, the elderly and the very young, there’s a chance the virus could cause a lower, and much more serious, respiratory tract illness like a pneumonia or bronchitis.

HOW IT SPREADS

Human coronaviruses most commonly spread from an infected person to others through: • The air by coughing and sneezing • Close personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands • Touching an object or surface with the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes before washing your hands • Rarely, fecal contamination.

PREVENTION

There are currently no vaccines available to protect you against human coronavirus infection. Transmission is reduced through: Washing your hands often with soap and water • Avoiding touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick If you are mildly sick, keep yourself hydrated, stay at home, and rest. If you are concerned about your symptoms, you should see your healthcare provider.

Launch of Coffee Table Book Tana Bana-The World of Sarees

Bengaluru, 25th January 2020: ‘Tana Bana’ The World of Sarees, a Coffee Table Book was launched today in Bengaluru authored by Mrs. Sowmya Reddy Shamanna. Mrs. Sowmya is an avid handloom enthusiast, who is residing in Germany for decades, she took up the mantle of writing a book on sarees while the Indian Consulate in Frankfurt were putting together to highlight the 150th anniversary of Gandhiji with something meaningful and relevant. The coffee table book is a celebration of the various saree weaves and embroideries prevalent in India.

Tana Bana – the world of sarees is a coffee table book, is intriguing, comprehensive, appealing to the millennials and adults alike and relevant to today’s times.

Author Sowmya Reddy Shamanna “I believe in celebrating and imbuing the saree with meaning and purpose. It is important that we instil a sense of pride in our youngsters that they see the saree as a sartorial choice of clothing. It is we, who have to up live our saree, reimagine the saree with all its glory of beauty, versatility and strength. Sarees represent the vital spirit of India, the cultural heritage, the variety and the memories of the nation. It also symbolises a common identity which subsumes the incredible melange of designs and motifs, displaying the magic of being a seamless length of social fabric that takes on the individual character of its wearer”.

Reviewing the book, Mrs Vijayalaxmi Chhabra, the former Director General, Doordarshan says “Tana Bana is a beautiful initiation into the world of Six Yards, our unstitched garment. Sowmya has done a fabulous job to explain many popular weaves in a simple and uncomplicated manner. I can assure you once you walk into this world, you won’t stop exploring the rich textile heritage of India. I will remember the stunning pictures in the book for a long long time”.

This book is a portrayal of traditional and contemporary sarees from the different regions of India like the stunning kanjeevarams, the intricate ikats, the rustling ornate banarasis, the vibrant bandhanis, the precious patolas and many more. Every saree in the book, is an unspoken representation of the place and people who wove the masterpiece, the dyes and the motifs, aesthetics and distinctiveness that is exclusive to each of them.

JITO Bangalore chapter organized Walk-a-thon-2020 ‘Fit raho khush raho’ in Bengaluru

*JITO sports was inaugurated by Worshipful Mayor Gautam Kumar along with Ms Ashwini Nachappa Indian athletic and Chitra Gangadhar Asian footballer

Bengaluru, January 25,2020: The City-based JITO Bangalore chapter, organised Walk-a-thon today to an objective to spread awareness around Health. The Walk-a-thon was held at Kittur Ranichanama Stadium, Madhavan Park- Jayanagar. The walk began at 7:00 am with 2500 plus strong walkers, from all age groups, carrying the message of ‘Fit raho khush raho’’. Zumba session was organised as a warm up before the Walk-a-thon.
Mr. Ashok Karbawala, Chairman Bangalore Chapter said that “Around 800 players across Karnataka will be participating in JITOSPORTS. There will different games organised like athletic, badminton, chess, lawn tennis, table tennis and swimming which will be conducted by Karnataka Athletic association, Table Tennis Association and Basavangudi Swimming Association.We JITO Bangalore think that our youth must participate more in sports and build their career in Sports”.
Jito Bangalore Chairman, Sripal Khivesara welcomed the gathering. Chief Secretary Dinesh Bohra thanked one and all.
Walk-a-thon 2020 was flagged off by the Worshipful Mayor Gautam Kumar in presence of MLA Uday Garudachar, with guest of honour Ms Ashwini Nachappa Indian athletic and Chitra Gangadhar Asian footballer. The inauguration of JITO sports was done post the Walk-a-thon. All the particiapnts present at the event welcomed the Jito Initiative to promote sports and appreciated the theme” Fit Raho – Khush Raho”.
Emphasizing the need of awareness walk-a-thon Worshipful Mayor Gautam Kumar said that“ it’s an immense feeling of satisfaction when you see a turnout of 2500 people from your nearby community who have come forward to join hands to spread the message about good health. I congratulate the entire organizing team of JITO Bangalore Chapter to have taken this responsible initiative”. The Mayor also encouraged everyone to promote Kannada language, abolish the usage of plastic and said our garbage should not be dumped on public road.
Addressing the gathering and inaugurating the JITO Sports Ms Ashwini Nachappa Indian athletic said that “it is a very good initiative taken by JITO Bangalore Chapter, like today’s Walk-a-thon is the purpose to give message to our society to be Fit and healthy because only when we are fit and healthy our nation will prosper in all dimensions”

For the inaugural function and Walkathon 2500 plus people participated. The winner and Runner-up from JITO sports will compete at JITO National which will be held at Chennai in May-2020. The Best performers from Chennai Nationals will be trained for Indian national and international tournaments.

We The People of India, Hum Bharat ke Log has emerged A banner, in Karnataka as well as in other parts of India to coordinate various peaceful, non violent and democratic protests against the anti constitutional CAA(2019) and opposing the NRC.

On the National Advisory Committee of this platform are senior Freedom Fighter Sri. H.S. Doreswamy, senior Litteratuer Devanoor Mahadeva, Thinker and Linguist Dr. Ganesh Devy, Sri. Sasikant Senthil the IAS officer who has tendered his resignation in protest. In Karnataka, along with organizations of various Dalit, Adivasi, Nomadic, and other oppressed communities, organizations of muslims, the Karnataka Rajya Raithara Sangha, and various other pro people organizations, student and youth groups and individuals seeking to uphold their democratic duties are active participants of the movement. The Citizenship Amendment Act (2019) enacted by the Bharatiya Janata Party lead National Democratic Alliance govt. is against the defining values of India. This Act is against the core principles of the Constitution and a clear violation of Article 14 of the constitution. There have been ongoing protests across the country at a scale not seen before in independent India. These protests have emerged spontaneously across the country and on Dec. 30th a common platform called ‘We The People of India, Hum Bharat ke Log’ was formed in a meeting in Mumbai. It was decided that all protests under the banner of Hum Bharat ke Log would be non violent, uphold democratic values, and shall present only the Indian constitution and Indian flag as its symbols. On January 30″, we call people to come together to human chain across Karnataka to strengthen the united struggle to uphold constitutional values. January 30 is the day when Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. It has been decided that human chains shall be formed across the country by all those holding up the Naavu Bharateeyaru banner. We call upon every conscientious person in our society to step forward, join us in the human chain and ask whether India is Gandhiji’s land or it is Godse’s? Now is the time to ask this question loudly and forcefully, of the society at large and those in power. India was not formed on the basis of the Two Nation theory propounded by Savarkar and Jinnah; India was formed with Singh, Ambedkar, Moulana equality propounded by Mahatma Gandhi, Bha the values of humanity Azad – that is the message we seek to send out to through the human chain. This peaceful gathering shall end with the singing of the National Anthem at exactly 5:17 PM commemorating the  time when Mahatma Gandhi fell to the bullets of an assassin.

We demand that the Karnataka state government, by Jan. 30″, declare that ‘the unconstitutional NPR – NRC – CAA shall not be implemented in Karnataka’. The January 26″ protest rally called by platform of Dalit, Adivasi, Nomadic and other oppressed communities in Bengaluru has the full support of Naavu Bharateeyaru.
