Indian Sunrise at the Carnegie Hall, USA

The All-Indian Dance Festival that took place on Sunday, 7th July, 2024 at the Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, New York, USA, curated by senior Guru Viji Rao, the founder Director of ‘Three Aksha’, was a testament to her Mission to passionately preserve and promote Indian culture and heritage outside of India. This annual festival which was the third edition showcased the talents of 480 young and old artists, the majority being American born Indians, to a full house of 2800 culturally diverse audience of all age groups.
At the heart of this mission is the goal to educate communities about the rich tapestry of Indian art forms.

The featured art forms included
1. Classical Dance –  Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, and Odissi
2. Folk Dance – Garba and Raas
3. Community traditional arts – Thiruvadira
4. Collaborative presentations –  ‘Adi’ (Konnakkol, Chenda Melam and Bharathanatyam), ‘Amataraso Soorya Vandana’ (Taiko Drums and Bharathanatyam)
5. Indian Contemporary Dance

Bangalore based classical musicians Praveen D Rao and Sai Vamshi were part of the collaborative presentation’ Adi’.

Through workshops, Summer Camps, lecture demonstrations, and collaborative efforts, Three Aksha not only reconnects audiences with familiar traditions but also introduces these profound art forms to new admirers, fostering holistic knowledge, critical thinking, expressive skills, and global citizenship among youth. Three Aksha’s commitment to cultural education and cross-cultural collaborations shines brightly, making it a cornerstone in the promotion of Indian arts in the United States of America.
