The members of VCN Doctors Welfare Association condemn the brutal act of sexual assault and murder of our colleague in Kolkata and also assault on the peaceful protestors in RG Kar medical college premises and total apathy of the law enforcement agencies when this assault and destruction of Emergency room of RG Kar medical college hospital.

Demand

1. All people involved in these violence are arrested and brought to justice

2. Better working conditions and security for the health care workers in all health care facilities-government, private clinics, corporate or charitable institutions. 3. We demand a central law to deal with any violence in health care institutions.

4, we demand all law enforcement agencies to be accountable for the enforcement of the law to protect health care workers in their workplace so that we can carry out our duties without any fear.

5. To provide proper security in all health care institutions by the management and the authorities and they should be held accountable in cases of lapses in the security system 6. We request the general public to show patience and support the health care workers in their rightful demand for safety and dignity in our workplace

7. we request media to create awareness about the plight of healthcare workers and highlight the importance of having safe and secure environment for the health care workers to ensure proper care of the patients and society at large

8. we request our representatives of the people to highlight the dangers being faced by healthcare workers and help bringing in effective enforcement of legislation to protect the health care workers

9. we do not want to put our patients health in danger so all emergency and essential healthcare services are continuing even when we are on strike

10. We request our general public to show empathy when your healthcare workers are facing such brutality and join hands with us to demand our safety so that we can take care of you with our best of the abilities.

11. we demand safe working environments for all students particularly women students in all medical, nursing, para medical colleges with separate duty rooms and safe and hygienic restrooms, proper functioning CCTV surveillance of corridors.

12. we demand sensitive handling of all the grievances of the students and staff in all the medical, nursing and paramedical institutions.
