Severe Flooding in Nagavara Village: Karle Infra Tech’s Illegal Blockage of Storm Water Drain Causes Devastation

Bengaluru, India-The residents of Nagavara Village are currently facing severe flooding and widespread destruction due to the unlawful actions of M/s. Karle Infra Tech. The company’s illegal blockage of a crucial 33-foot-wide secondary stormwater drain (SWD) has resulted in devastating waterlogging, causing extensive damage to homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.

For generations, this stormwater drain has been vital in protecting Nagavara and its surrounding areas from flooding, channelling excess water from Voddarapalya through Sy. Nos. 34, 35, 36, 37, 76, 75, 73, 91, 92, 95, and 96, before reaching the Mariyannapalaya Bruhat Kaluve. Historical records,
including the original Village Map from 1885 and satellite imagery as recent as 2012, confirm the uninterrupted flow of this critical drainage system.

However, in 2012, Karle Infra Tech began construction in the Nagavara area, completely obstructing this natural drainage path. The company illegally encroached upon 33 Guntas of B Kharab land across Sy. Nos. 91/3, 92/1, 92/2, 95/1, 96/1, 96/2, and 96/3, disregarding the law and endangering the local community. This obstruction has led to recurring severe waterlogging and put thousands of lives and livelihoods at risk.

BLATANT MANIPULATION AND ENCROACHMENT

Karle Infra Tech’s actions were deliberate and calculated. The company manipulated revenue records to fraudulently regularize Sy. No. 91/3, which originally included 36 Guntas of land along with 9 Guntas of B Kharab land. By unlawfully altering records, the company not only blocked the SWD but also diverted its natural flow, causing flooding in surrounding areas. This manipulation extended to other lands in Sy. Nos. 92, 95, and 96, which were also unlawfully regularized despite their crucial role in the stormwater drainage system.

ONGOING FLOODING AND PUBLIC SUFFERING

Since the illegal obstruction of the SWD, the residents of Nagavara Village have endured continuous flooding and waterlogging. Businesses have been disrupted, homes have sustained damage, and public spaces have become unusable. The community has suffered significant losses while Karle Infra Tech profits from its illegal activities.

URGENT CALL FOR ACTION

The residents of Nagavara Village are calling for immediate government intervention to restore the natural flow of the SWD and undo Karle Infra Tech’s illegal encroachments. The manipulation of official records, obstruction of natural drainage, and disregard for public welfare cannot be allowed to continue. Immediate legal action is necessary to prevent further damage and to hold the company accountable for its reckless actions.

Failure diabetic tro address this issue will lead to continued flooding and ongoing hardship for the people of Nagavara. The restoration of the drainage system and swift action against Karle Infra Tech are urgently needed ) #didiprevent further devastation.
