Ambedkar Statue Insulted in Chintamani: Anekal Ambedkar Youth Association Warns of Vigorous Struggle

Bengaluru, January 2, 2025 – The Anekal Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Youth Association has expressed outrage over the alleged disrespect shown to the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, in Chintamani town, Chikkaballapur district. The association has warned of a vigorous protest if the issue is not addressed immediately.

At a press conference held at the Bengaluru Press Club, the association’s president, Marasur Krishnappa, alleged that Minister Sudhakar and certain members of the Reddy community were complicit in the act. “The statue, installed in front of a primary school in Chintamani, has been insulted by being covered with dirty cloth. This act is a blatant attack on Ambedkar’s legacy and Dalit pride,” said Krishnappa. He also announced plans to file a formal complaint with Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar.

State Women’s Unit President Renuka Bommasandra further elaborated on the issue, stating, “Despite securing all necessary permissions from the Education Department, some vested interests have continued to insult the statue, which was unveiled last August. Until the disgraceful covering is removed, the Anekal Ambedkar Youth Association will launch a massive protest.”

Treasurer Mailarappa, Manjunath. P. Bheema putri pavitra,Maane Ramanna, and other members of the association were also present at the press conference.

The association has urged authorities to take immediate action to resolve the issue, failing which they have warned of intensified protests.
