Bengaluru: The Karnataka state government must take the issue of farmers’ loans seriously and take immediate measures to prevent farmer suicides, said G.S. Gopal Raaj, Editor of City Today News.
He emphasized that the government should implement effective financial assistance schemes, loan waivers, low-interest loans, and crop insurance to help farmers escape the burden of debt. He warned that if adequate relief is not provided to struggling farmers, the number of suicide cases may continue to rise.
The state government should prioritize the agricultural sector and ensure that banks extend direct support to farmers. Recognizing that farmers’ empowerment and a debt-free life are their fundamental rights, the government must take appropriate steps, G.S. Gopal Raaj urged.
