Bengaluru, April 15, 2025 – In a significant move aimed at enhancing customer convenience, Bharti Airtel has announced a strategic partnership with quick commerce platform Blinkit to deliver SIM cards to customers’ doorsteps in just 10 minutes. The service, which marks a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Indian telecom sector, is currently operational in 16 major cities, including Bengaluru, with plans to expand to additional locations soon. The delivery service is available at a nominal convenience fee of ₹49.
Following the delivery, customers can activate their new SIM cards through a simple Aadhaar-based self-KYC (Know Your Customer) process from the comfort of their homes. Users can opt for either prepaid or postpaid plans, or even port their existing numbers to the Airtel network using the MNP (Mobile Number Portability) option. To streamline the experience, Airtel has also provided an online link where customers can access a step-by-step activation video.
Speaking on the launch, Siddharth Sharma, CEO – Connected Homes and Director of Marketing, Bharti Airtel, said: “Simplifying customer lives is central to everything we do at Airtel. Today, we are thrilled to partner with Blinkit for 10-minute SIM card delivery across 16 cities. In due course, we plan to extend this service to several more cities and towns.”
Albinder Dhindsa, Founder and CEO of Blinkit, added: “We are excited to collaborate with Airtel to help customers save time and effort by delivering SIM cards directly to their homes in select cities. While Blinkit manages the swift delivery, Airtel ensures a seamless activation experience through self-KYC and flexible plan options, including number portability.”
The service is currently available in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bhopal, Indore, Surat, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Sonipat.
All customers can access assistance via the Airtel Thanks App, while new users may contact customer support at 9810012345. Airtel has mandated that the delivered SIM cards be activated within 15 days to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted service.
This collaboration is expected to set new benchmarks in customer service and telecom accessibility in India.
