Trade embargo imposed in line with ethical standards and national interest

Bengaluru, 17th May, 2025: The Bangalore Wholesale Cloth Merchants Association (BWCMA) has officially announced a complete suspension of all textile trade activities—both imports and exports—with the countries of Turkey and Azerbaijan, effective immediately.
In a strong show of unity, BWCMA members unanimously agreed to halt all commercial dealings in the textile sector with these nations. The decision was taken after extensive internal discussions, with a focus on upholding ethical business practices, responding to national sentiment, and safeguarding the interests of the local textile trade community.
Key points of the declaration include:
Immediate suspension of all textile imports from Turkey and Azerbaijan
Immediate cessation of all exports of textile products to these countries
A strict commitment to avoiding indirect trade through intermediaries or third-party nations involving goods connected to Turkey and Azerbaijan
This resolution is binding on all BWCMA members and will remain in force until further notice. Any updates or modifications to this decision will be communicated officially by the Association’s governing body.
The Association has called upon authorities, trade partners, logistics providers, and all stakeholders to support and co-operate in ensuring complete adherence to this decision.
