Bengaluru, July 11:
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has announced the launch of Optigal® Prime and Optigal® Pinnacle, two premium colour-coated steel products, in the Karnataka market. These high-performance steel variants are part of the company’s flagship Optigal® range, now available in India for the first time outside Europe.
Given Karnataka’s diverse geography — from the humid coastal climate of Mangaluru to the industrial zones of Bengaluru and Ballari — infrastructure in the state is highly susceptible to corrosion. In response, AM/NS India is introducing these advanced steel solutions that are specially engineered to withstand C4-level corrosive environments, offering exceptional durability and lower maintenance costs.
This launch is seen as a significant move to support the Indian government’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ infrastructure development vision. It positions AM/NS India as the only domestic manufacturer of such European-standard, high-durability steel, filling a critical market gap.
Optigal® Prime comes with a 15-year warranty and is designed for use in moderately corrosive and urban settings. It is available in several advanced finishes such as Silicon Modified Polyester (SMP), Super Durable Polyester (SDP), and Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), making it ideal for cladding, roofing, and architectural projects.
Optigal® Pinnacle, the top-end variant, offers a 25-year warranty and is tailored for highly corrosive coastal and industrial environments. It features tough PU/PA coatings that provide superior resistance to moisture, UV exposure, and extreme temperatures — ideal for critical infrastructure such as airports, seaports, warehouses, and marine structures.
“These products represent our commitment to provide innovative, durable steel solutions that address Karnataka’s unique climatic and industrial demands,” said Mr. Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President – Sales and Marketing, AM/NS India. “Optigal® brings world-class performance to Indian infrastructure while supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
The products are manufactured at AM/NS India’s state-of-the-art facility in Pune, Maharashtra, and are developed using advanced Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium coating technology, delivering up to three times more corrosion protection compared to conventional coatings. Additionally, the range includes specialised variants like High Gloss, Anti-Dust, Anti-Graffiti, Anti-Static, Anti-Microbial, and Cool Roof to suit various application needs.
Welcoming the launch, Mr. Raveesh Bagla, Director – Business Development at Kingspan Jindal Pvt Ltd, said: “Having seen the performance of Optigal® products across Europe, their entry into the Indian market is timely. These products offer exceptional quality and reliability, especially as India accelerates its infrastructure growth.”
With a colour-coated steel production capacity of 700,000 tonnes, and plans to scale up to 1 million tonnes, AM/NS India is set to strengthen its footprint in the rapidly growing southern market — which alone accounts for approximately 0.6 million tonnes of colour-coated steel demand annually.
Designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, these products are free from heavy metals and hexavalent chromium, emit low levels of VOCs, and are fully recyclable, making them a responsible choice for long-term construction.
