Heartfelt tributes poured in today as the city remembered Shri P.K. Ranganathan, former MLA of Shanthinagar, on his 43rd death anniversary. Known for his simplicity, integrity, and inclusive approach, Ranganathan was widely respected for his commitment to social justice and is often referred to as the ‘Kamarajar of Shanthinagar’.
Throughout his political career, he worked tirelessly for the welfare of the underprivileged, transcending barriers of caste and religion. One of his most notable contributions was his bold intervention to halt the demolition of the Mayabazaar slum by military authorities. His courageous stand protected countless families, and in recognition of his efforts, the area was later renamed P.K. Ranganatha Nagar.
