ePlane Partners with Dassault Systèmes to Drive Urban Air Mobility Innovation

Bengaluru, October 8, 2025: In a major step toward transforming urban air mobility in India, Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: FR0014003TT8, DSY.PA) has announced a collaboration with The ePlane Company, a pioneering aviation startup developing electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The partnership leverages Dassault Systèmes’ powerful 3DEXPERIENCE platform to accelerate ePlane’s aircraft design and streamline certification processes.
By adopting Dassault Systèmes’ cloud-based digital solutions, ePlane is able to enhance its model-based systems engineering and conduct end-to-end digital simulations, significantly improving the pace and precision of design development. The platform also facilitates multidisciplinary collaboration and optimization of complex engineering workflows, enabling faster innovation with high safety and reliability standards.
“Dassault Systèmes’ robust cloud and simulation technologies allow our team to validate complex eVTOL designs faster and more efficiently. The digital continuity achieved across every phase of aircraft development has reduced engineering cycles and de-risked certification milestones,” said Dr. Satya Chakravarthy, Founder and CTO of The ePlane Company.
Established in 2019 by Dr. Chakravarthy, ePlane aims to redefine urban transportation with its e200x—the world’s most compact eVTOL aircraft. Designed with an 8×10 meter footprint, a 115 km range, and a Pilot + 200 kg payload, the e200x represents India’s growing capability in sustainable aerospace innovation.

ePlane is also the first private company in India to receive Design Organization Approval (DOA) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for aircraft in the 2–19 seater category. The company’s Type Certification process for the e200x is currently underway, following DGCA’s acceptance of its application in December 2024. ePlane expects to achieve full certification and operational readiness by 2027–28, with plans to launch its aircraft for air ambulance and urban transport services.
“ePlane’s pioneering efforts demonstrate how digital transformation can redefine aerospace innovation. Using our 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud, ePlane is accelerating safe, efficient, and certifiable aircraft development. We’re proud to support their mission for zero-emission, accessible, and sustainable air mobility in India and beyond,” said Deepak NG, Managing Director, Dassault Systèmes India.
