SPARSH Hospitals Opens Institute of Cancer Care at Hennur Road

Amid a sharp rise in cancer cases across India, SPARSH Group of Hospitals has strengthened its focus on comprehensive oncology services with the launch of the SPARSH Institute of Cancer Care at its 300-bed quaternary care centre on Hennur Road, Bengaluru. 

The new institute marks a major step forward in SPARSH’s mission to make advanced and integrated cancer treatment accessible in southern India. Blending state-of-the-art technology, multidisciplinary expertise, and patient-focused care, the facility stands as a symbol of SPARSH’s commitment to “Empowering Cancer Care with Advanced Technology and Expertise in Every Aspect.” 

The Institute was inaugurated by Karunada Chakravarthi Dr. Shiva Rajkumar and actor Ms. Prema, in the presence of Justice Shivaraj V. Patil, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, and **Dr. Shekar Patil**, Director of Oncology Services, SPARSH Hospitals. The event was attended by leading oncologists, cancer survivors, and members of the medical community, marking SPARSH’s formal foray into advanced oncology care.

The SPARSH Institute of Cancer Care offers a full range of oncology services, including: 

Nuclear Medicine
Medical, Surgical and Radiation Oncology
Haematology and Haemato-Oncology (Adult & Paediatric)
Palliative and Supportive Care

The facility is equipped with PET-CT and MRI scanners, modular oncology operation theatres, a linear accelerator for precision radiation therapy, and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) suites with HEPA-filtered rooms. Supporting facilities such as a Chemotherapy Day Care Unit, Onco-Pathology and Molecular Testing Lab, Central Venous Catheter (CVC) Clinic, and comprehensive laboratory services make it a one-stop destination for cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. 

Focus on Early Detection and Awareness 

SPARSH leadership emphasized the growing need for awareness and early screening for cancers such as breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal, which continue to show rising incidence in India. Through awareness programmes, free screening camps, and survivor support initiatives, the hospital aims to build a culture of early detection and timely intervention.
