NICE Road to welcome cyclists across India; ₹30 lakh prize purse announced

BENGALURU, November 27, 2025: Bengaluru will host the first-ever HCL Cyclothon in the city on February 8, 2026, adding another marquee sporting event to its calendar. After drawing over 15,000 cyclists from 25 states across its editions in Noida, Chennai and Hyderabad, the Cyclothon now arrives in what is widely regarded as the cycling capital of India. The event will take place along the NICE Road stretch and will offer a total prize purse of ₹30 lakh.
The Cyclothon is being organised by the HCL Group, in association with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), which will serve as the technical partner. CFI will oversee route certification, safety management and other technical processes to ensure the event meets international competitive standards.
This Bengaluru edition will feature three categories — Professional, Amateur, and the popular Green Ride — making the event inclusive for elite racers as well as recreational cyclists and newcomers. Registrations are open on http://www.hclcyclothon.com until January 26, 2026.
Rajat Chandolia, Associate Vice President and Head of Brand Strategy at HCL Group, said the event reflects the organisation’s long-standing commitment to sports.
“For us, sport represents ambition, resilience and the drive to excel. Bengaluru has a vibrant and passionate cycling community, and bringing the HCL Cyclothon here feels like a natural step. We hope to see strong participation from across the country as more people embrace the sport and push their limits,” he said.
Maninder Singh, Secretary General of the Cycling Federation of India, described the Bengaluru debut as a significant step forward for the sport.
“The arrival of the HCL Cyclothon in Bengaluru signals the remarkable progress cycling has made across India. Our collaboration with HCL is aimed at strengthening both recreational and competitive cycling. Events of this scale help identify talent, build capacity and raise India’s profile in global cycling,” he noted.
India’s leading road cyclist Naveen John, who finished as the first runner-up at the HCL Cyclothon Hyderabad 2025, welcomed the announcement.
“Bengaluru has always been the heart of India’s cycling culture. An event of this magnitude gives young riders exposure, structure and a sense of aspiration. I look forward to seeing cyclists of all levels participate and make this debut edition a landmark for the sport,” he said.
With its Bengaluru launch, the HCL Cyclothon aims to further strengthen the country’s cycling ecosystem by nurturing professional talent, promoting fitness and building a stronger culture of endurance sports.
