PNB Plans Digital, Startup Banking Expansion in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, January 16, 2026: Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, has announced a major push to expand its digital and startup banking footprint in Bengaluru, underscoring its focus on technology-led growth and deeper engagement with emerging business ecosystems.

During his visit to the city, PNB MD & CEO Shri Ashok Chandra reviewed the Bank’s performance in Karnataka and outlined strategic plans to strengthen its presence in the state, with Bengaluru identified as a key growth and innovation hub.
As part of the expansion, PNB plans to open Digital Branches in prominent technology parks across Bengaluru to cater to professionals, corporates, and digitally savvy customers. The Bank is also planning to set up a dedicated Startup Branch in Electronic City, one of the country’s major startup and innovation clusters. This specialised branch will offer customised banking products, credit solutions, and advisory services tailored to startups and new-age enterprises, aligning with PNB’s broader strategy to enhance digital delivery and support India’s innovation-driven economy.

Reiterating the Bank’s commitment to digital transformation, Shri Ashok Chandra highlighted the critical role of technology in improving service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer experience. He also stressed the importance of continuous employee upskilling to support PNB’s evolving business model and growth ambitions. Emphasising Karnataka’s strategic importance, he said the Bank plans to open several new branches across the state in the coming years.
To improve customer experience, PNB is focusing on upgrading service quality and branch ambience. A QR code-based customer feedback system has been introduced, enabling real-time feedback on branch services, which will be linked to employee performance assessments. The Bank has also planned renovations of older branches to enhance customer convenience and comfort.
In a bid to strengthen credit access for entrepreneurs and small businesses, PNB has enhanced its MSME Digital Loan offerings and is placing increased focus on digital implementation of key government schemes such as PM SVANidhi, PM Vishwakarma, and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
PNB has also entered the premium banking segment with the launch of the ‘Luxura’ Metal Credit Card, aimed at high net-worth individuals and offering world-class benefits. Indian Women’s Cricket Team Captain and PNB Brand Ambassador Harmanpreet Kaur is the face of this premium product.
Highlighting the Bank’s focus on women empowerment, Shri Chandra noted that women constitute nearly 30 per cent of PNB’s workforce. The Bank has rolled out dedicated initiatives for women customers, including ₹10 lakh cancer insurance coverage for women savings account holders and priority lending support for Self-Help Groups and women entrepreneurs.
An interactive town hall meeting was also held during the visit, with over 350 employees from across the region participating. The discussions focused on improving customer service, strengthening the CASA portfolio, accelerating growth in MSME, agriculture and retail segments, and enhancing recovery in NPA accounts.
Currently, PNB operates 155 branches across 31 districts in Karnataka. With focused leadership engagement, strategic expansion, and a sustained thrust on digital banking, PNB continues to position itself as a future-ready institution committed to inclusive growth, customer-centricity, and long-term value creation.
