realme 16 5G debuts in India with 7000mAh battery, AI dual 50MP cameras; priced from ₹28,999

Bengaluru, April 2, 2026: realme on Tuesday expanded its mid-range portfolio with the launch of the realme 16 5G, targeting young users focused on photography, design and long battery life. Priced from ₹28,999, the smartphone will be available via realme.com, Flipkart and retail outlets in Air White and Air Black colour options.
The highlight of the device is its AI-powered dual 50MP portrait camera system, featuring a 50MP front camera and a Sony IMX852-backed 50MP rear sensor. The company claims the setup delivers natural skin tones and detailed portraits even in challenging lighting conditions. Adding to its camera appeal is an industry-first rear selfie mirror, supported by an Aura Ring Flash, gesture controls and voice countdown for easier rear-camera selfies.
The smartphone also introduces AI-led imaging tools, including Vibe Master Mode for customised tone presets and AI Edit Genie for one-tap photo enhancements. An AI Instant Clip feature can automatically generate short videos optimised for social media.
On the hardware front, the realme 16 5G packs a 7000mAh “Titan” battery with 60W fast charging support. The company says the battery can retain over 80% health after 1,600 charge cycles, translating to long-term usability. Features such as bypass charging and reverse charging are also included.
Despite the large battery, the phone maintains a slim 8.1mm profile and 183g weight, thanks to what realme calls its “Air Design” and aircraft-grade internal structure. It sports a 6.57-inch display with narrow bezels and a redesigned horizontal camera module aimed at improving grip and balance.
The device runs on realme UI 7.0, backed by a new Flux Engine for smoother performance, along with a claimed 72-month fluency support.
In terms of durability, the smartphone comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, offering resistance against dust, water splashes and high-pressure conditions.
With a mix of high-resolution cameras, a large battery and a slim design, the realme 16 5G positions itself as a strong contender in the sub-₹30,000 segment.
