‘Progress for Humanity’ Hyundai Motor India Foundation Ramps-Up Initiatives to Support India’s Fight against COVID-19

  • Funds will be donated to PM CARES Fund and Tamil Nadu CM Public Relief Fund
  • Assistance in the form of much needed consumables will be provided to Hospitals in India
  • Hyundai will join hands with local vendors to develop medical equipment such as Ventilators
  • Lays Strong Road Map to realise its Global Vision- ‘Progress for Humanity’

New Delhi, April 04, 2020:  Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has extended its spectrum of CSR initiatives in support of India’s fight against COVID-19. In its endeavour to provide assistance to the Central and State governments, Hyundai will not only contribute towards different Relief Funds but is also prepping to provide the Indian Medical Fraternity with much needed protective and patient care equipment.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. SS Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “In these challenging times, our Global Vision – ‘Progress for Humanity’, holds us firmly rooted to core values of community service. Hyundai is committed to support India in this fight against the COVID-19 crisis and we are advancing our CSR initiatives that are aimed at enhancing support and care of society & communities.”

Hyundai will undertake CSR initiatives such as:

  • Contribution towards the PM CARES Fund
  • Contribution towards Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund
  • Provide Advanced and Precise COVID-19 Diagnostic kits imported from South Korea
  • HMIL to join hands with local manufacturer to enhance the production of ventilators to meet growing demand in Tamil Nadu and other states
  • In-house development of a prototype ventilator: already submitted to Government of Tamil Nadu for consideration
  • Provide protective and patient care equipment/ materials to various states  
  • HMIL will provide daily necessary food material in the form of dry ration to needy people in coordination with local Government.

Hyundai has also announced initiatives to support customers in these challenging times. Customers who were unable to avail vehicle’s Warranty/Extended Warranty/Free Service due to Health Emergency or Dealership shutdown in affected cities, HMIL will offer extended support of 2 months. Customers (Doctors/Police/Bankers etc) who are in essential services are already being given Road Side Assistance by Allianz Partner/Dealers, in case of any emergency.

Sportz Village launches ‘Play At Home’ program during the COVID-19 quarantine.

The program aims to encourage children to be fit and energetic while staying at home.

Bengaluru, 3rd April 2020 : The ongoing coronavirus pandemic is dominating headlines and has drastically changed our daily lives. Keeping the children engaged and away from devices is the primary concern for parents, especially during this time of the national lockdown. All schools in India have closed and at present, both parents and children have time that could be fruitfully utilized by doing a few physical activities to stay fit. Keeping this in mind, Sportz Village Schools, India’s No. 1 sports education organization, has launched the ‘Play At Home’ program.

The ‘Play At Home’ program is designed in a manner that will help the children to be active, healthy and happy while they are at home. The program contains age-appropriate activities and tasks that are helpful to maintain the physical, emotional as well as mental well-being of the children.

The program, which is accessible on the Sportz Village website, is a 30-day long calendar of activities with fitness charts and instructional videos that the children can follow to remain fit and more importantly have fun. The parents can also be a part of this program by observing/monitoring their child during the activities as well as performing a few of the activities along with them. Additionally, the program also includes activities to keep the children mentally active with sports quizzes (SLAM), puzzles (Brain Games) as well as provides recommendations for sports-specific inspirational movies that the children can watch and enjoy.

Hope and family values are strongly built in our culture, and we are proud to share that Amway India’s employees have also come forward to do their bit by pledging to voluntarily donate their one day salary to support the cause. With this encouraging response, Amway India has committed to not just match, but donate five times the amount received from its employees towards this cause. The donations aims to provide:
 
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, gowns, shoe covers, head covers, masks, respirators, and eye protection gear to frontline workers through our partner NGO
Support to the vulnerable sections of the society with essentials including Amway hygiene products, food and other rations
 
As a part of this endeavor and in line with our guiding principles, Amway India has pledged a contribution of INR 1.61 crores to support the fight against coronavirus. The fund entails:
 
Contribution towards PM CARES FUND: INR 1 crore for combating, containment and relief efforts against the coronavirus outbreak 
Contribution towards Tamil Nadu CM’s Public Relief Fund: INR 25 lakh to provide relief measures in Tamil Nadu by way of setting up quarantine centers, free treatment to those infected with coronavirus, support to workers from several unorganised sectors and many more. 
Support the Government’s on-ground health and sanitation services:  INR 36 lakh to drive wide range of initiatives such as:
Partner with United Way Delhi (UWD): INR 21 lakh set aside for a project with UWD with the aim  to distribute hygiene kits comprising masks, gloves, sanitizers, hand wash etc. to public health service providers benefitting 15,000 people in Gurgaon and Mumbai
Provide 1200 N95 masks to surgeons: Support ‘The Association of Surgeons of India’ (ASI), Delhi Chapter for the Covid-19 relief program. Under the program, Amway will be providing 1200 N95 masks to support the medical doctors and other healthcare providers. These will be used for the government hospitals in Delhi such as Maulana Azad Medical College and Lok Nayak Hospital which have been declared as COVID hospitals by the Government.
Support Meenakshi Mission Hospital & Research Center (MMHRC), Madurai, Tamil Nadu: INR 5 lakh towards distribution of disposable masks and gloves to the public service providers in Madurai and Dindigul District in Tamil Nadu. This initiative in association with MMHRC is expected to benefit more than 10,000 people across Madurai and Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu
Conduct a Disinfection and Sanitation Drive in association with select NGO partners across 12 cities benefitting more than 3,000 children and adults.  INR 5 lakhs allocated for this initiative and Amway to partner with professional agencies across the country to execute the program.
The drive aims to clean, disinfect, and sanitize NGO premises, ensuring better health and hygiene of Amway’s project beneficiaries, especially underprivileged children.
Furthermore, the initiative will include the disinfection of three of our telemedicine centers, select schools, and community centers in select villages located in Dindigul District. The disinfection drive will benefit 15 villages in and around Amway’s manufacturing facility in Nilakottai, Tamil Nadu.
 

We are so proud of 5,50,000 direct sellers which include 60% women across the country, many of whom have stepped forward to give back to the communities by spreading awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare and building immunity using digital platforms. We are collaborating with them to help them in channelizing their contributions by providing them with digital tools and assets to help them further reach out their respective communities across the country.
