LF presents HIMALAYAS – THE OFFBEAT ADVENTURE With ‘Host & Storyteller’ RANVEER BRAR

Bengaluru– 10th September, 2019: The life less explored, the Himalayas, beckon to be discovered. It paints a picturesque picture waiting to be framed. As host & storyteller Ranveer Brar says, “Take the path less taken; it is the people, cultures and way of life waiting to be discovered that will humble you beyond words.” Inspired by his fascination with the peaks, host Ranveer Brar sets out on a journey to discover untold stories and cuisines of a region few seem to really know. Showcasing stories filled with excitement, discoveries and exhilarating experiences, is a new show set to invigorate all senses – Himalayas – The Offbeat Adventure.

A self-discovery as much as a discovery of the Himalayan range, Ranveer holds the viewers’ attention as he explores three Himalayan states – Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand. The storyteller in Ranveer brings out the visual distinction of each place through scenery, topography, cultures and most importantly the people. He sets out on a visual journey that introduces LF’s co-voyagers to life in the Himalayas with excitement translating through Ranveer’s adrenaline filled adventure. It sees Brar in a never seen before avatar where he opens his heart to take in everything the hills have to offer.

Fascinated and influenced by the unique kind of terrain locals use, to the food that they grow, is an eye opener for many. Brar has used every mode of transport ranging from hiking, driving, boating, riding and even trekking to ensure that his journey is as memorable as his destination.

The show has been greatly influenced and touched by the engagement with the locals there. Each one has a story so unique that it was difficult to put the entire experience in just 12 episodes. From pashmina rearers who never use pashmina owing to the fact that it earns them their food, to the Aryan community in Malana with protected sacred houses and locals, the show is fascinating to say the least. The beauty of the show is in the people through whom the story is being told, the stories shared and the emotions felt. Ranveer also meets with Tenzin Tsundue (poet, writer and activist) at his humble abode in Dharamshala. What follows is a narration of poems over some Turkish black tea and deep dive into a room full of photos, articles and sketches which documents Tsundue’s nerve wrecking encounters with the law depicting the truth behind Tibet and its current state. Crossing paths with unexplored communities, this show brings forth the strength of a society – in every manner.

Discovering heroes from the stunning yet fragile ecosystem, Ranveer jumps into adrenaline gushing activities in treacherous terrain and finds and curates never before seen recipes using local ingredients. Having explored the darker side of this beautiful land, Brar’s passage also lead him to unearthing cannabis in Malana, the fact that there were missing tourists in Kasol, and the fascinating discovery of keeda jadi, a rare and even more expensive fungus that claims to have aphrodisiac properties that isn’t easy to gather at all!

Speaking about this show Amit Nair, Business Head, LF said, “Brand LF has become synonymous with high quality originals and with delivering a premium experience to our consumers. With Himalayas, we raise our bar higher to deliver a journey that should inspire a trip and go offbeat while at it. It is a pioneering show with revelations and life stories bound to touch our viewers. For the first time we are also making the show available to stream for our digital viewers on the website.”

“Interacting with the locals from various walks of life who would first only share directions to now share experiences and then actually cooking with them has taught me so many new things. I cannot wait to share the many events from their daily lives that we tend to take for granted. From unplanned adventures to living the life in these mountains, it was exciting to encapsulate it into 12 unique episodes for one and all to watch. This journey has been exhilarating while humbling. I take with me memories, learning and relationships from this new show!” shares Ranveer Brar.

Discovering methods of food transport despite roads being blocked or the importance the climate Gods play in the toughest of terrains, this is a show that also talks about the hardships of life and offers a new way to set a premise to our thought processes. Did you know that at 16,000 feet you cannot grow any produce and that at 15,000 feet you can grow everything except wheat and rice? Bowing down to the matriarchal system followed, watch as Brar breaks stereotypes and acknowledges the mental and physical strength of the women who make the region what it is.

Unfolding the magnificence that the Himalayas have to offer, this is a show that displays the mountain range as so much more than a geographical wonder and true pride of the world. The abode of snow is also an abode of excellence offering a variety of fares that literally tantalizes the palate.

Driven by Zoom Car and Special Partners as OPPO and Lotus Whiteglow, the show is set to air from 17th September on LF SD & HD.

Airing Time: Every Tuesday – 8PM | Repeat Telecast: Every Wednesday &Thursday – 9PM

BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital, Bengaluru hosts a workshop on basics of Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) interventions

Bangalore, September 12, 2019: BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital today hosted a workshop on the basics of Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) interventions in its premises. Leading gastroenterologists from abroad and various top city hospitals came together to discuss the numerous treatment modalities, complexities, and advantages associated with EUS. This workshop was also followed by a symposium later in the evening, where experts debated on the advantages of EUS versus widely different treatment methods available in handling various conditions related to gastroenterology. About 120 doctors attended the event.
Dr K Ravindranath, Founder & Chairman, Gleneagles Global Hospitals Group, inaugurated and addressed the EUS workshop, which is third in the series.
Dr Ravindra B S, Chief of Gastroenterology, BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital, Bengaluru added, “Gastrointestinal surgeons are frequently faced with challenging medical cases. As responsible doctors, we have to keep up with the constantly evolving medical innovations. At our center, we believe in investing our time in regular knowledge sharing platforms such as these as it provides an opportunity for our doctors to interact with other experts, thereby helping us expand our proficiency and forming a more integrated network of gastrointestinal surgeons in the country. This benefits our patients essentially, as we progress and learn more. “
“Last month BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital became the first hospital in Karnataka to use the new Hot AXIOS stent for successfully treating a 30-year-old man who was suffering from pancreatic pseudocyst (fluid filled cavity around pancreas) and was high risk patient for laparoscopic surgery under anaesthesia. This procedure hardly takes 5 mins compared to endoscopic drainage which takes around 40 mins.

The benefit to the patient is that they are not under anaesthesia for a long time unlike other procedures and it is beneficial for high-risk patients. Patient recovers much faster with this intervention.”
Dr Ravindra BS and his team of Senior Gastroenterologists performed this procedure using this new stent, which has been used less frequently throughout India. New innovations such as these and more were discussed at the workshop.

26th Indian Plumbing Conference in Bengaluru on 11th and 12th October 2019 IPA to Conduct Walkathon to Create Awareness IPA Signs MoU with CREDAI

– Seminars, Exhibitions, Technical Symposiums to be part of the conference
– Special IPA Mascot Unveiled to strengthen IPA’s ‘I Save Water’ campaign
– Event is expected to be attended by 800 plus delegates and 5000 plus trade visitors

Bengaluru 12th September 2019: The Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) today announced that it will be hosting the 26th INDIAN PLUMBING CONFERENCE (IPC) in Bengaluru on 11th and 12th October at Palace Grounds. IPC is the national conference of the Indian plumbing fraternity. As part of IPC, seminars, exhibitions, technical symposiums etc. are to be held to educate and share knowledge on latest products, installations and technologies for the benefit of members and general public. In an effort to create a connect between the common man and strengthen IPA’s ‘I Save Water’ campaign, a special IPA – ‘I Save Water’ Mascot was unveiled by Gurmit Singh Arora, National President, Indian Plumbing Association and B.O. Prasanna Kumar, Chairman, Bengaluru Chapter, Indian Plumbing Association in the presence of C.S. Gupta, National Secretary, Indian Plumbing Association. In the run up to the Conference, IPA will be conducting an open to all walkathon to create awareness on water management and sustainability on 29th September 2019.
Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru, Gurmit Singh Arora, National President, Indian Plumbing Association said, “The central theme of this year’s two day conference is ‘H2–WOE, Wat-er Way to Go’. Through a series of Technical Sessions and Panel Discussions, the event will focus and draw attention towards the emergent need to conserve water and highlight how the right plumbing practices can play a significant role in this task. IPA has also planned to hold a concurrent Exhibition of plumbing and allied products as well as the Grand Finale of IPPL 2019 on 12th October 2019. The mega event is expected to be attended by more than 800 delegates and around 5,000 trade visitors. We have also signed an MoU with CREDAI, wherein the two organizations will promote plumbing practices as referred in National Building Code of India (NBC) and Uniform Illustrated Plumbing Code – India (UIPC-I) and work with Central and State Governments for mandatory application to the building construction industry, to ensure that plumbing standards are at par with international standards. IPA in joint co-operation with CREDAI will organize workshops for capacity building training for engineers and architects covering various subjects on plumbing.”
IPA has been involved in saving water since 2013 by launching a Water Efficient Products-India (WEP-I). WEP-I is a recommendation to the industry and Government on the water volumes required for different products- Taps, Showers, Cisterns, Urinals, Washing Machines etc. at par with international standards of other countries which practices water sustainability.
According to B.O. Prasanna Kumar, Chairman, Bengaluru Chapter, Indian Plumbing Association, “This premier event brings together Plumbing consultants, contractors, architects, interior designers, urban planners and academicians from across India and the world. IPC has established itself as a popular forum to exchange information and ideas, inviting active participation from domain experts and audiences, across the globe. Themes of the conferences and seminars are related to prevalent trends and issues in the industry. These conferences have become a must-attend for professionals from building services and plumbing community including students.”
“We are organizing a dedicated walkathon to enhance our ‘I Save Water’ campaign. We are hoping that people will participate in large numbers to spread the message. As part of our ‘I Save Water’ Campaign, we are also involved in propagating the reuse of treated wastewater in construction projects. In most apartment complexes in the city, there is an excess of treated waste water even after it being used for landscape irrigation and toilet flushing needs. A minimum of 50% of this treated waste water is therefore surplus and can be diverted for use in construction sites. This will reduce the burden on the use of freshwater for construction.” Gurmit Singh said.

IPA has installed a unique Plumbing Laboratory at the campus of College of Engineering, Pune – one of India’s premier educational institutions. The lab has live demonstrations of various plumbing systems including washrooms used at different occupancies such as hotels, hospitals, residences etc, including one for the differently abled individuals. Nearly 25000 professionals and students have visited the Lab. The lab is funded by IPA with contributions from its members and several product manufacturers, the lab is also used for the training/education programmes being conducted by IPA and IAPMO-India. Another Plumbing Lab with technical assistance from IPA has been installed at Sri Ramakrishna Advanced Training Institute (SRATI), Coimbatore. Currently, IPA is providing technical assistance for construction of another Plumbing Lab at CV Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar.
“IPA is bridging the gap to create water efficient rating for fixtures on the lines of Bureau of Energy Efficiency star rating which is a measure of energy efficiency of an appliance. Water savings can be achieved throughout industry by a combination of behavioural change, modifying and/or replacing equipment with tested and certified water saving equipment and reducing overall water consumption.” Prasanna Kumar said.
