In a statement issued today, Mr. Gopal Raaj said, “I congratulate all the students who have cleared the PUC exams and especially those who have secured top ranks. Your achievement is a testament to your dedication, perseverance, and the guidance of your teachers and parents. I wish you all a bright and successful future ahead.”
He also offered words of encouragement to students who were unable to clear the exams this year. “Success and failure are both part of the learning journey. To those who didn’t pass this time—do not be disheartened. Use this experience to grow stronger, prepare better, and come back with confidence. Better luck next time.”

Bengaluru, April 8, 2025: In a thought-provoking statement released earlier this week, G.S. Gopal Raaj, Editor of City Today News, called upon students to recognize the immense value of time and to utilise it wisely and purposefully in their academic journey and personal development.
“Time is one of the most valuable assets a student possesses,” said Mr. Gopal Raaj. “Once lost, it cannot be recovered. Hence, students must understand the importance of time management and adopt a disciplined approach to ensure they make the most of every moment.”
Highlighting the challenges faced by today’s youth, especially with the rise of digital distractions and a fast-paced lifestyle, the veteran editor stressed the need for conscious efforts toward time optimization. He encouraged students to create daily schedules, set achievable goals, and dedicate sufficient time for studies, reading, physical activity, and skill development.
Mr. Raaj further elaborated that the student phase of life is a foundation for future success. “What you do with your time today determines where you will stand tomorrow. Each minute spent on learning, thinking, and constructive action contributes to shaping your character, confidence, and competence,” he noted.
He also addressed the role of parents and educators, urging them to guide students in understanding the importance of time and to foster environments where time is respected and productively used. “As stakeholders in a student’s growth, we must collectively ensure that time is not wasted but wisely invested,” he said.
The statement has been well-received by educators and academic institutions, who echoed Mr. Raaj’s views on the critical role of time management in student success. Several schools and colleges are now planning to conduct workshops and awareness programs on the theme of “Time Utilisation and Personal Discipline” following his statement.
As a senior journalist and influential voice in the education and media space, G.S. Gopal Raaj continues to inspire the youth and society through his insightful commentary and responsible journalism.

Bengaluru, April 2025: A recent survey by Wakefit.co, a direct-to-consumer sleep and home solutions provider, has revealed a significant rise in sleep-related issues among Bengalureans, highlighting digital device usage and stress as major contributing factors. The findings are part of the eighth edition of the company’s annual in-house survey, The Great Indian Sleep Scorecard (GISS) 2025, which analyzed responses collected between March 2024 and February 2025.
According to the report, 64% of respondents from Bengaluru reported going to bed after 11 p.m., a substantial increase from 38% the previous year. The trend reflects a growing disconnect from the recommended 10 p.m. bedtime, contributing to persistent sleep deprivation in the city.
The survey further highlights increasing levels of fatigue and insomnia, with 54% of Bengalureans stating they feel unrested upon waking—up from 46% last year. Alarmingly, one in three respondents suspect they may be suffering from insomnia.
Digital distractions remain a critical factor, with Bengaluru recording one of the highest rates of bedtime phone usage in the country. An overwhelming 90% of respondents admitted to using their phones before sleeping, and 55.5% cited late-night scrolling and binge-watching as the primary reasons for sleep delays. Consequently, 61% reported experiencing sleepiness during work hours.
Stress has also emerged as a key disruptor of sleep. The report notes that 33% of respondents stay awake worrying about the future, an increase from 29% last year. Additionally, 42% reported staying up browsing social media platforms, further compounding sleep challenges.
Despite the concerning data, the survey indicates a gradual shift in sleep awareness. Forty percent of participants acknowledged that reducing screen time before bed could enhance sleep quality, and 36% are actively working toward establishing consistent sleep routines.
The Great Indian Sleep Scorecard surveyed over 4,500 individuals across various Indian cities and demographic segments. Now in its eighth year, the initiative aims to provide insights into evolving sleep patterns while promoting better sleep hygiene through public awareness.
