Bengaluru: Marking the solemn observance of Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s memorial day, members of the SSD, led by John, paid homage by garlanding the statue of the architect of the Indian Constitution.
Accompanied by Dalit leaders Sundar, Anand, Benzer, Appu and Raja, the team offered floral tributes and reflected on Ambedkar’s lifelong fight against discrimination. The leaders, all of whom are actively engaged in social welfare initiatives, reiterated their dedication to uplifting marginalised communities and working towards a more equitable society.
Speaking on the occasion, they emphasised that Ambedkar’s principles of social justice, equality and empowerment remain central to their mission. They noted that the continued service to the downtrodden and needy is the most meaningful way to honour his legacy.

ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ನಗರದ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ಕ್ಲಬ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸುದ್ದಿಗೋಷ್ಠಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಅವರು, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ 14 ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳು ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಕರಾವಳಿ ಮೂಲದ ಪ್ರಭಾವಿ ಮತದಾರ ಗುಂಪುಗಳ ಒತ್ತಡದಿಂದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪಾದ್ರಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಗತಿ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಆರ್ಚ್ಬಿಷಪ್ ಪೀಟರ್ ಮಚ್ಚಾಡೋ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಜಿ ಆರ್ಚ್ಬಿಷಪ್ ಬರ್ನಾರ್ಡ್ ಮೊರಾಸ್ ಅವರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಬಾಕಿಯಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಗೆಹರಿಸಲು ವಿಫಲರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಐಸಾಕ್ ಟೀಕಿಸಿದರು. ಚರ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳು, ಆಡಳಿತಾಧಿಕಾರಗಳು, ಆಯೋಗಗಳು, ಸೆಮಿನಾರಿ ತರಬೇತಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಕರಾವಳಿ ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಲಾಬಿಯ ಒತ್ತಡದಲ್ಲಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ತಮ್ಮದೇ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವವೀಕ್ಷಕರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಮೂಲದ ರಾಯ್ ಕ್ಯಾಸ್ಟೆಲಿನೊ ನೀಡಿದ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಗಳು ಸಮುದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದ್ವೇಗ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಆ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಗಳು “ಅಪಮಾನಕರ ಮತ್ತು ಅಧಿಕೃತವಲ್ಲದವು” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಖಂಡಿಸಿದರು.
ತಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಐಸಾಕ್ ಸರ್ವೋನ್ನತ ಪ್ಯಾಟ್ರಿಯಾರ್ಕ್ ಗೆ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು. 3/1983 ವಲಯದ ಸರ್ಕ್ಯುಲರ್ ಅನ್ನು ರಾಜ್ಯದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಜಾರಿಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು. ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು, ತೆಲಂಗಾಣ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಬಿಷಪ್ಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡಿದಂತೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗ ಪಾದ್ರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೊದಲ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಚರ್ಚುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲ ಸ್ಥಾನ ನೀಡಬೇಕು ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಿಸುವ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡ ಪಾದ್ರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿಂದವೇ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಸೇಂಟ್ ಪೀಟರ್ಸ್ ಗುರು ಮಠವನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರಾಂತೀಯ ಗುರು ಮಠವಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸುವಂತೆ ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದರು.

BENGALURU: The All Karnataka Catholic Christians Kannada Association has raised serious concerns over what it describes as the disproportionate control of coastal Konkani groups in the administration of the Catholic Church across the state. Association president A. Isaac said Kannada-speaking Christians continue to be marginalised, their language overlooked, and their clergy denied equitable opportunities within church structures.
Speaking at a press conference at the City Press Club on Friday, Isaac pointed out that Karnataka has 14 church regions, yet only the Chikmagalur Diocese is led by a bishop from the Kannadiga community. He alleged that promotions for Kannada priests are being stalled due to the dominance of coastal-origin voting groups within the Church’s governance mechanisms.
Isaac also criticised Archbishop Peter Machado and former Archbishop Bernard Moras, stating that neither has addressed long-pending issues affecting Kannada Christians. According to him, crucial positions—including administrative roles, commissions, seminary training centres, and prominent church institutions—remain concentrated in the hands of the “coastal Konkani lobby,” leaving Kannada Christians feeling excluded in their own state.
He said the situation has worsened following recent remarks made by Roy Castellino from Mangaluru, which he termed “insensitive, damaging, and unauthorised.” The comments, he said, have further strained relations within the community.
Calling for urgent steps, Isaac urged the Supreme Patriarch to enforce the 3/1983 circular across Karnataka without delay. He demanded an end to what he called the “coastal monopoly,” and asserted that, just as neighbouring states like Tamil Nadu and Telangana prioritise local leadership, Karnataka too must ensure that its church hierarchy reflects its linguistic and cultural identity.
Isaac emphasised that Kannada should be given precedence in worship across all churches, and that spiritual leaders serving the state’s faithful must be drawn from the Kannada clergy. He also renewed the long-standing demand to elevate the historic Saint Peter’s Guru Math to the status of the Karnataka Provincial Guru Math.
Association vice-president Antony Raju C., treasurer George Kumar Y., and Kannada activists Chandrashekhar and Channegowda were present at the briefing.

“ವಿನಯ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ವಿ. ನಾಯಕ್ ಅವರ ಮುಂದಿನ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿಗಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಹಾರೈಸಿದರು.“
