Curates 600+ destinations with the aim of broadening depth of discovery for tourism marvels in the country
Bangalore, August 18, 2023 – There is no better way to pay homage to one’s country, than to bear witness to its many offerings that our forefathers fought to protect. This Independence Day, MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel company, joins hands with the Ministry of Tourism to showcase 600+ destinations beyond the country’s most popular travel wonders.
The Traveller’s Map of India microsite developed by MakeMyTrip provides an interactive platform for travellers to discover tourism gems that lie within the country’s borders based on their preferences. This thoughtfully curated microsite has been designed in line with the Government of India’s visionary ‘DekhoApnaDesh’ programme.
Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and DoNER, said, “We welcome MakeMyTrip’s initiative to present India’s diverse destinations and to promote domestic tourism. We invite more such initiatives to realise our collective dream of showcasing our country to the world.”
To arrive at the curated shortlist, MakeMyTrip looked through India’s travel search history. With millions of visitors using the platform every month, the destination searches on the platform can be considered to be the nation’s ballot for must-see destinations in the country. Based on this premise, the company selected destinations that are lesser known, or are only familiar to people in certain pockets of the country. The selections have been further categorised with tags such as adventure, wildlife, heritage, mountains, beaches etc, to help travellers sift through to their preferred travel genres. “The Traveller’s Map of India reflects the voice of almost every Indian traveller which makes it aptly commemorative of August 15th.” said Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder & Group CEO, MakeMyTrip.
“We have always championed for the diversity of India’s tourism offerings, and wanted to push the envelope of discovery further. What better way to do this than to empower every Indian to be a spokesperson for the country’s cultural, historic, natural and geographical marvels. We are grateful to the Ministry of Tourism for supporting our initiative. It reaffirms our faith in our mission to exteriorize India as the most sought-after Tourism destination in the world”, Rajesh added.
The Traveller’s Map of India also supports the potential of domestic tourism as a powerful instrument for socio-economic development, thus contributing directly and significantly to the multifactoral growth of India’s economy.

Bangalore, 17th August 2023 – Thousands of students in India have received the results of the Cambridge International June 2023 exam series over the past week. Cambridge IGCSE and O Level exam results are released today, following the release of Cambridge International AS & A Level results on 16 August. These results mark the end of an important phase of their lives and ready them for their next step in the world, whether in work or continuing their studies.
Cambridge International, a not-for-profit organisation, part of the world-renowned University of Cambridge and the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 3 to 19 year olds, has released the results of its June 2023 exam series to over half a million students worldwide, including nearly 9000 in India. This year saw Cambridge International’s largest exam series to date, with 1.7 million entries for Cambridge exams across 5,600 schools in 147 countries. An increase of 11% on June 2022. Despite the challenges of the pandemic over the past few years, students in India have been able to gain the qualifications they need to take their next step, which is proof of their hard work and the continued support of their schools, teachers, families, and communities. In total, there were almost 32,000 entries for Cambridge IGCSE, O Level and International AS & A Level exams in the June 2023 series in India, a rise of 4% since June 2022. More than 4300 students in India took Cambridge IGCSE and O Level exams, with English, Physics, and Mathematics being the most popular subjects. Over 4500 students in India took Cambridge International AS & A Level exams, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics being the most popular subjects. Cambridge International holds three exam series each year in India, enabling schools to choose the series that best fits their students’ needs. The March series is the largest, however June is also a popular choice for schools. On the June 2023 exam series, Rod Smith, Group Managing Director, International Education at Cambridge, said: “I congratulate Cambridge students for their hard work in achieving these results. They have shown great resilience over the past few years and have kept on moving forward with their education. With these qualifications our students can feel confident that they have developed the skills they need for the future, so they can embrace whatever opportunities lie ahead. “I also want to thank Cambridge schools and teachers, who once again have displayed tremendous commitment and passion for education that has been core to their students’ success.” Mahesh Srivastava, Regional Director, South Asia, Cambridge International said: “Through the dedication of students, the unwavering commitment of educators, and the enduring support of families and communities, the journey of Cambridge students in India continues to inspire and we congratulate all students on their remarkable results. As we celebrate their achievements in the June 2023 exam series, we recognise that these results not only reflect academic excellence but also the resilience that empowers them for the future. Together, we pave the way for students to shape their destinies with confidence and seize the boundless opportunities that lie ahead.” Like other exam boards, Cambridge International has been moving the standard of Cambridge qualifications back to the pre-pandemic standard of 2019 in gradual steps. This year’s standard has returned to the standard of 2019, and the impact of the pandemic has been taken into account when setting the grade boundaries. This means a student who would have achieved a grade A before the pandemic will be just as likely to get a grade A in 2023. More than 600 schools across India offer Cambridge programmes and qualifications to their students. The Cambridge Pathway curriculum offers flexibility and choice to students and schools, with over 70 subjects available at Cambridge IGCSE and over 55 subjects offered at Cambridge International AS & A Level.

Canara HSBC Life Insurance, as the lead life insurer, will be driving this along with lead general and lead health insurance companies operating in Karnataka to scale the insurance selling amongst the designated states. Additionally, collaborative efforts will be made with IRDAI and the State Government to raise awareness about existing government schemes and improve insurance availability at the district and state levels. The focus will be on enhancing insurance reach and accessibility throughout the states. The company’s focus on Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and their efforts to work closely with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and the State Government will play a vital role in strengthening insurance uptake, particularly in tier 2 and 3 cities. Mr. Sunil Kurtkoti, Advisor (Financial Inclusion), Finance Department, Government of Karnataka present at the event stated “The State Level Insurance Committee certainly brings in several ideas for implementation of better insurance prospects within the state. The committee should ideally formulate a short term and medium term plan so that a more dedicated and synergized approach is followed within state for insurance awareness. PMJJBY is a measurable product and IRDAI can support the initiative by providing data on quarterly basis for Karnataka’s PMJJBY spread, this will eventually help the insurance companies to map their insurance penetration year on year. Motor insurance, crop insurance and property insurance are some of the crucial sectors which can also give insurance sector the much required boost. The regulator can promote a common portal similar to State Level Banking Committee where the information on progress of every district can be uploaded and measured on timely basis.” Mr. Vikas Gupta, Chief Compliance Officer, Canara HSBC Life Insurance, reiterated the company’s commitment towards making insurance accessible to all individuals “We are honored to be appointed as the Lead life Insurer for Karnataka and Delhi to promote insurance awareness and ensure financial protection for individuals and businesses across the nation.
