Hero Electric announces 1st edition of Bangalore One Race in Bangalore and the 8th edition of Tour of Karnataka

Bengaluru, 17th November 2022: Hero Electric, India’s oldest and largest E2W company, announces the first edition of ‘One Race’ and the eighth edition of the Tour of Karnataka in Bangalore today. Hero Electric also unveiled Optima E5, the award prize for the male and female winners of the half marathon.

Over the years, Bangalore has witnessed a resurgence in marathons and running events as fitness and well-being become a priority for urban dwellers, who are becoming more health-conscious and aware of the importance of a clean environment. It is Hero Electric’s first edition of ‘One Race’ in Bengaluru and its third-year association with Tour of Karnataka. TOK is a cycling tour conducted by Cadence90 every year in November. Spread over four days, cyclists ride through scenic, serene routes of Karnataka and soak in its beauty. Cyclists challenge themselves across different terrains (mountains, coastal) and weather conditions while experiencing local traditions and culture. The 8th edition of TOK starts on November 22, 2022, with 106 riders and this growing tribe of TOK cyclists will ride a distance of 523 km.

The first edition of the Bangalore race is scheduled to be in February 2023, and registrations for the run will be open for individuals who can register by visiting the One Race official website. The Bangalore run will consist of 5 KM, 10km, and the most popular Half Marathon race and will be flagged off by Indian actress Gul Panag. She is a half-marathon runner, a biker, and a certified pilot. A health activist and fitness advocate Gul Panag co-founded the health, and fitness startup MobieFit in 2017. Hero Electric has been successful in organizing multi-city editions of half marathons in North India that began in the year 2016.

66-year-old African Woman gets a new lease of life post Successful Knee Replacement via Mako Robotic Surgery at Fortis Bannerghatta Road

Bengaluru, November 16, 2022: Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta Road gave a new lease of life to a 66- year-old African patient suffering from multiple co-morbidities via Mako Robotic Arm-Assisted Technology. The patient had been suffering from knee pain for past 15 years and faced immobility. Dr. Narayan Hulse, Director – Department of Orthopaedics, Bone & Joint Surgery, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road successfully performed the bilateral total knee replacement surgery on the patient.

The African patient was unable to conduct the basic chores for past 15 years. What complicated her health condition further were the co-morbidities-hypertension, asthma, congenital heart defects and even a pacemaker surgery which she had undergone earlier. Both her knees were completely damaged owing to osteoarthritis.

Speaking about the case, Dr. Narayan Hulse, Director – Department of Orthopaedics, Bone & Joint Surgery, Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road said, “We operated on both the knees of the patient individually within a gap of 3 days. Mako Robotic Technology helped us create a 3D virtual model of the patient’s damaged knee and plan the corrective surgery. During surgery the Robotic-Arm assisted in resecting the bone in an appropriate angle, personalised for this patient. Unlike routine knee replacements, this patient needed additional implants like stems and augments to reinforce the weak bone.”

“While traditional knee or hip replacement surgeries have considerably improved patients’ quality of life over the past three decades, Mako has significantly increased the accuracy, aided precise planning and bone-cut, bone and soft tissue preservation, reduced post-operative discomfort, faster recovery, quicker discharge, and less blood loss. This technology has completely transformed how joint replacements are being carried out,” added Dr. Hulse.

The patient recovered immediately post the surgery and was mobilised gradually. Considering her poor health condition and prolonged immobility, she made remarkable progress in a very short span of time and has become independent in her daily activities. She left for her home country within 2 weeks of the surgery.

New India Assurance Underwriting Performance Improves by 15%

Company continues to pursue path of continued growth with profitability

Bengaluru, 16th Nov 2022: New India Assurance, in its half yearly results for FY22 reported improvement in underwriting performance by 15%.
The gross written premium (GWP) for the half year ended 30th September 2022 saw a growth of 1.90% compared to the same period last year. It is noteworthy that the growth was achieved despite a substantial quantum of premium in Crop & Government line of business not renewed in the current year as compared to the previous year.
The company’s solvency margin improved to 1.77x as on 30th September 2022 in comparison to 1.66x as on 31st March 2022.
The company’s Combined ratio improved to 117.06% in the first half of the current financial year as compared to 120.66% for the year ended 31st March 2022.
The company was able to report a profit despite recognizing the 5-year impact of wage arrears and wage revision of about Rs. 2,600 crore as additional liabilities during the current quarter.
Commenting on the results Mrs Neerja Kapur, Chairman cum Managing Director said, “The company is continuing to pursue its strategic path of continued growth with profitability which led to the company shedding some unprofitable business. Our emphasis is on improvement in bottom line & solvency ratio.”
