MindfulTMS Neurocare launches a new center in Whitefield, Bengaluru

1 in 5 people in India were affected by mental health issues during lockdown

Bangalore, October 1, 2020: MindfulTMS Neurocare has announced the launch of its new center at Whitefield, Bangalore. This is its 4th Clinic in India and 10th worldwide. As per the report from the Indian Psychiatric Society(IPS), the number of mental health cases had increased by 20 percent since the lockdown and that at least one in five Indians were affected. There is a significant rise in mental illnesses in the working population and children due to the extended lockdown, job losses, and remote learning. To address the issue, Mysore-based NR Group has decided to extend its services by launching another center in the city.

This is the first of its kind center to use US FDA-approved Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for treating Depression, Addiction, and OCD in India. Mr. Pavan Ranga, CEO, MindfulTMS, along with Dr Murali S. Rao, (Professor and Chairman Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences Loyola University Medical Centre, Chicago, USA) and Dr. Vijay Mehtry inaugurated the center at a virtual press conference.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive procedure with no side effects that uses magnetic fields to stimulate targeted nerve cells and improves symptoms of depression and other conditions like anxiety, OCD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Stroke rehabilitation, Schizophrenia, and Parkinson’s disease. A typical TMS session lasts for about 19 minutes and the accelerated version lasts for about 9 minutes post which the patients can resume their normal daily activity immediately.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Pavan Ranga, CEO, MindfulTMS and Managing Partner, NR Group, “The center has been specially designed to provide a holistic approach for treating mental illnesses with the US FDA-approved Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) at its core. MindfulTMS Neurocare is a global brand with a presence in the US, Europe, and Asia, that brings together the clinical expertise of neuropsychiatrists from the US, along with cutting-edge treatment and individually customized personalized treatment protocols that have yielded successful results for treating mental illnesses over time.”

India is in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic, and may is also be witnessing an equally damaging health catastrophe. There has been a surge in the number of people grappling with mental health issues. Factors such as lockdown, forced isolation, fear of the virus, financial insecurity, domestic violence, and rising anxiety have led to the deepening of the mental health crisis over the last few months. In India, there is also the challenge of a taboo associated with mental illness and a lack of awareness that one may be suffering from the disease. As a result, most people suffering from depression do not come out and seek help. Mr. Pavan added, “Our goal at mindfulTMS Neurocare is to create awareness on mental illnesses and to help patients feel at home while undergoing treatment”.

Dr. Murali S. Rao, Professor and Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, Loyola University Chicago, USA, “Around the world, TMS has evolved as an effective non-drug based treatment option or an adjunct (add-on) treatment for depression with no side-effects. It has helped thousands of patients to overcome Depression, OCD, and has shown effectiveness for addictive disorders, Parkinson’s disease, Post Stroke Depression, and Depression during Pregnancy. Our biggest strength is that we are global. We have access to globally tested protocols and practices to help increase the efficacy of the treatment. This treatment has helped over a million people in the US and India. Our psychiatrists and psychologists are trained in global best practices and to understand the unique needs of patients and develop personalized treatment plans. Our centers have experienced an overwhelming response from patients where several patients have been successfully treated.”

A state-of-the-art facility located in the South of Bangalore in Whitefield, this center offers a distinguished treatment for psychological, psychiatric, and behavioral health and well-being. The team of experts at the Centre includes Psychiatrists and Psychotherapists who have extensive experience in neuromodulation and neurostimulation. This makes the team well aligned to deliver Neurocare’s model of sustainable, evidence-based treatments to the patients through MindfulTMS Neurocare, the company aims to provide newer modalities for addressing mental health while bringing more people under the umbrella by providing customized treatments.

Leed Gold Certification for Orion Mall @ Brigade Gateway

Bangalore October 1, 2020 : Orion Mall @ Brigade Gateway is the first mall in the country to receive a LEED Gold Certification under ARC Existing Building category. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. The certification system provides a dependable framework for assessing a building’s degree of compliance with global environmental protection and sustainability standards. Some of the chief parameters that determine a building’s rating include energy expenditure, water usage, carbon dioxide emission, waste management, indoor air quality, etc.

Orion Mall was able to get the certification due to its highly-efficient operational structure that prioritizes sustainability and utilization of green technology over traditionally more cost effective solutions. “I’m proud to say that the Brigade Orion Mall in Bengaluru is setting high benchmarks for other retailers to follow.   This certification is the result of truly exceptional performance by the mall facility team through consistent upgrading and maintenance of facility systems along with strict adherence to environmental protocols.” declares Selvarasu M, LEED Fellow & Managing Director from LEAD Consultancy, who works as a sustainability consultant for the mall.

Even with receiving sizable number of footfalls on a regular basis, the mall has consistently excelled at maintaining the eco-friendly dimension of the overall infrastructure. In view of the extensive range of businesses operating with the mall, this feat is considerably more impressive. Manu R, General Manager – Facilities & Technical Co-Ordination opines “I believe the key to our success as a standard-bearer for eco-friendly operation is our no-compromise attitude. We invest in the best equipment, employ personnel with high degree of expertise and keep abreast of latest developments in green technology that facilitates our pro-environment operational goals.”, Shashie Kumar, COO – Retail said, “Our endeavour is customer-centricity combined  with the focus of sustainability in our day-to-day operations.

”Being Responsible Socially is a Core Value for Brigade. We are constantly exploring for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and improve the operational efficiency of our malls. We invest in technology that helps us save water, reduce electricity consumption. Start-ups from our Brigade REAP program such as WEGOT and Clairco have helped us achieve this.  ” says Nirupa Shankar, Executive Director at Brigade Enterprises Ltd.
