Former Partner, EY and a former CEO join Hindustan Zinc Board

24 July 2020 Bangalore: Zinc and Silver mining major, Hindustan Zinc Ltd, a subsidiary of India’s largest diversified natural resources company Vedanta Ltd, announced the appointment of Anjani K Agarwal, a former senior partner of EY and Akhilesh Joshi, former CEO of HZL as Directors on its Board effective August 1, 2020.

The Udaipur-headquartered HZL is the largest producer of zinc, lead and silver in India and has ambitious growth plans.

Anjani Agrawal retired from EY in June 2019after a 40 year long professional career, 26 of which were spent as Partner at the global consulting firm.He has worked with the Union Government and NITI Aayog on several policy matters and has been guest faculty at the Indian School of Business and SDA Bocconi.

Said Agrawal on his appointment, “Hindustan Zinc is amongst the most successful value-creation stories post privatization and has made significant progress over the years. He is the recipient of National Mineral Award 2006, by Govt. of India for his outstanding contribution in Mining Technology and Business Today Best CEO Award (Core Sector) 2013.

Get ready for CET next week with CMRIT mock test

5 days of training also for PGCET students will be given by CMRIT experts

BENGALURU: With its first online mock test for undergraduate CET exams early this month receiving huge response from students and parents, the CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT) is conducting a second online mock test on Monday, July 27.
The mock test will be supervised by expert teachers to provide an experience of the real KCET examination that is being held on Thursday and Friday (July 30 and July 31). As an incentive, the high scorers of the test will be rewarded with e-certificates and concessions in the college fee.
This online mock test will be an opportunity for 2nd PUC/12th grade students to become acquainted with the KCET examination, which is crucial for pursuing professional education.

Mock test for PGCET-2020
The CMRIT is also conducting a free 5-Day online training cum mock test for PGCET-2020. This is for the students who want to take admission to MCA, M.Tech (CSE) and M.Tech (VLSI)
To aid the preparation of aspirants of Post-Graduation, CMR Institute of Technology will be conducting a free 5-day training programme and it is scheduled from 27th to 31st July.
As a practice session for under graduates, the training session will be focused on subjects related to CSE and VLSI streams. The online mock test will be an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming PGCET, especially in times of uncertainty brought about by the pandemic. The PGCET examination conducted by the Government of Karnataka is crucial for students to pursue higher-education.

PREPAREDNESS ON REOPENING SCHOOLS SAFELY

A virtual session hosted by POPCORN FURNITURE on returning to safe schooling

Bengaluru, 23rd July 2020 : Popcorn Furniture, India’s largest educational furniture manufacturing company, held a webinar on ‘Reopening schools safely post COVID-19’. The one and a half hour long webinar was attended by five renowned panelists from education, health and sanitization sectors, and was followed by an insightful half-an-hour Q&A session.  

The session was organized with the aim to discuss a framework and guidelines to support educational institutes in facilitating the reopening of schools. It covered the changes in the education module post the lockdown and a way forward to the new SOPs framed in order to respond to the child’s learning, health and safety needs. The webinar reported the participation of over 1000 attendees including teachers, principals, school owners, school trustees, consultants, students and media. Mrs. Deepika Goyal, Founder and Director, Popcorn Furniture was the moderator. Dr. Shayama Chona, Padma Shri & Padma Bhushan Renowned Educationalist, Dr. Monika Arora, Director Health Promotion Division, Public Health Foundation, Dr. Vidya Gupta, Senior Consultant in Pediatrics & Neonatology, Apollo Hospital,Ms. Nupur Goenka, Director GD Goenka Group, Mr. Sumit Nadgir, CEO, HiCare MD, TrueNorth were the five eminent panelists for the session.

The major points discussed during the webinar were- the key challenges and effects in reopening schools post COVID-19, trust issues between parents and school authorities, challenges or difficulties for differently abled students, sanitization and safety process and implementation of hybrid education module. Adding to the same, panelist gave their quick opinion on public health guidelines and detailed SOPs that can be followed for student’s safety. The webinar had a long Q&A session and the questions ranged from physical to virtual problems faced by school kids, parents and teachers during the lockdown, discussion on getting a blue print by schools to ensure the safety of kids and a relief package from government to educational institutions.

The multi-disciplinary group that looked into the different aspects of opening schools was an excellent choice.
