“ARTIST for Her,” a Bengaluru-based premier institute has won the FICCI Healthcare Excellence Award.

Bengaluru-based “ARTIST for Her” has won the “Excellence in Capacity Building Award” at the 13th FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards 2021 presented today. The Award was bestowed on the organisation for preparing Covid19 warriors nationwide for maternal and child health care in the Covid and post-Covid era through a digital platform.

Asian Research & Training Institute for Skill Transfer (ARTIST) is a premier institute for learning, research and skill transfer in Bengaluru set up by internationally-renowned gynaecologist Dr. Hema Divakar.

Covid19 compelled organisations to relook at how obstetrics and gynaecological care is delivered. ARTIST collaborated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences (RGUHS) to launch a skill development programme for healthcare providers pan-India on 15 April, 2020 through a digital media training platform. The training was provided across Karnataka, Rajasthan, UP, Jharkhand, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Manipur, and Uttarkhand.

Over 3,600 staff nurses and frontline healthcare providers were trained, building their competency for safe delivery during Covid19 and beyond. This initiative has positively impacted more than 3 lakh pregnant women in more than 450 small and medium-sized maternity homes trained through this initiative. The use of a digital platform for skill transfer improved efficiency and brought the initiative to scale in a cost effective manner, reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality.

“On behalf of all our champions and master trainers, we are honoured to receive the FICCI Award for Excellence in Capacity Building for ARTIST for Her. We promise to transform the future of women’s healthcare by digital skill transfer. We have an ambitious mission of training one million healthcare providers in the maternal and child health space,” said Dr Hema Divakar, receiving the award in an online ceremony.

The ceremony hosted by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) had Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India officiating as the chief guest, and Mr C K Mishra, former Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, as the guest of honour.

30th Sep – Online vocational education company Vah Vah! Is pleased to announce that a graduate of its Professional Makeup Artist Course, student Pouja Roy was crowned as the winner of Dazzle Mrs. India International 2021 & Mrs. Kolkata India International 2021.

Pouja joined Vah Vah! to improve her skills in Makeup and be able to present the best version of herself in upcoming pageants. Speaking about the impact that Vah Vah had on her, she commented, “Vah Vah’s trainers have been a light of hope and positivity for me, this has given me the confidence I needed to participate”.

The startup’s mission is to educate and prepare India’s young and dynamic population for their future careers, training them in vocational skills so that they can find employment or run their own business.

Started in October 2020 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Vah Vah!’s courses are designed for those looking to build a career or run their own entrepreneurial service business. 90% of the startup’s cohorts are women, with an all-India representation. The startup currently offers professional courses in Makeup, Hair Styling & Nail Artistry with plans to expand to other vocational skill sets.

On the course design, Co-Founder Akash Senapaty said, “We are very focussed on ensuring that the content is fresh, has depth and is relevant to current trends. That is why our students are able to shine in a variety of situations – even beauty pageants!”

Vah Vah!’s courses are offered in small batches, and students are sent well-designed learning kits for Professional Makeup, Hairstyle or Nail Artistry with all the material they need to complete the course. Students learn from experienced beauty industry professionals, who undergo further training before they teach at Vah Vah!. For example, the platform’s professional make-up artist course is a 22-day comprehensive training program across a variety of looks, such as fashion and bridal makeup, and includes career counselling and one-on-one Q&A time with trainers.

ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಮಾಜಿ ಬಿಬಿಎಂಪಿ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾದ ವಾಗೀಶ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಹಲವು ಸಮಾಜಮುಖಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದ್ದು ಮುಂಬರುವ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಮಾಜಮುಖಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲು ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ಸದಾ ನಾವು ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಬಳಿಕ ಸಂಜೆ ಸಮಾಚಾರ್ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯ ಸಂಪಾದಕರಾದ ಬಿ.ಎ. ಮಹೇಂದ್ರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಕರುನಾಡ ಜನಸ್ಪಂದನ ವೇದಿಕೆ ಈ ಅಭಿನಂದನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜಮುಖಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಗಣ್ಯರನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಶ್ಲಾಘನೀಯ. 

ಮುಂಬರುವ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಉನ್ನತ ಮಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಮಾಜಮುಖಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ನಂತರ ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ಆರ್.ಆರ್. ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಕಾರ್ಯವೈಖರಿ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ವಿಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಪರಿಸರ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜಮುಖಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಒತ್ತು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಸಂತಸದ ವಿಷಯ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಕರುನಾಡ ಜನಸ್ಪಂದನೆ ವೇದಿಕೆಯ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ನಟರಾಜ್ ಬಿ.ಪಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಯಾರೇ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಹಿಂದೆ ಗುರುವಿನ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಇದ್ದೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ ತಾವೇನಾದರೂ ಇಂದು ಸಾಧಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೂಲಕಾರಣ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಅಂತಹ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿ ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ನಮಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷ ತಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಹಿರಿಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರಾದ ಮೋಹನ್ ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಹಲವು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಮುಂಬರುವ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳೊಡನೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲು ನಾನು ಸದಾ ಸಿದ್ಧನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು

Dr. Hema Divakar, a healthcare leader, receives the Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) Doctors’ Day Award.

Bengaluru:The Indian Medical Association (IMA) presented Dr. Hema Divakar, Medical Director of Divakar’s Specialty Hospital, with the coveted Doctors’ Day Award in appreciation of her services and contributions to society and the public. In honour of Bharata Ratna Dr. B.C. Roy, a distinguished physician, academician, and independence warrior, Doctors’ Day is observed.

The award was presented to her by Dr. H.N Vinay, President, IMA, and Dr. Madhushankar L, Chairman, Doctors’ Day Committee, at a glittering event in Bengaluru in the presence of dignitaries and various stakeholders of the healthcare fraternity.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Hema said she was humbled to receive the award and it motivated her to further strengthen her resolve to contribute to society. With the motto of “Women’s Health is Nation’s Wealth” she has been at the forefront of institutionalizing various guidelines and norms to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate and improve quality of life. 

One of her major contributions, when the pandemic ravaged the country, was enabling over 4,000 hospitals to implement Covid-19 protocols and guidelines for doctors, nurses & paramedical staff, especially in maternity hospitals. The standard training programme for hospitals was implemented on-site as well as remote monitoring.
