Rotary Karnataka CSR Awards presented by Dr. Ashwath Narayan C. N.

BENGALURU, March 2, 2020: The Third Annual Rotary Karnataka CSR Awards 2020 were presented by Dr. Ashwath Narayan C.N., Hon. Deputy Chief Minister, Minister for Higher Education, IT & BT, Science & Technology, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, Karnataka State, in the presence of District Rotary Governor Dr. Sameer Hariani.

In a glittering function, Dr. Ashwath Narayan said, “I would like to congratulate the awardees and thank the Rotary Club for creating such a platform. Recognising good work done by corporates and NGOs is most important as this can inspire them to do more for the community.”

The areas where NGOs and corporates were awarded included Basic Education & Literacy; Agriculture & Rural Development; Skill Development & Livelihoods; Women & Child Development & Differently Abled; Health, Safe Drinking Water & Sanitation and Technology in CSR/ Digital Education.

The NGOs who received awards were The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Deshpande Foundation, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, Karnataka Health Promotion Trust, Society’s Care for Indigent and Sri Sathya Sai Annapoorna Trust.

The Corporates who received awards were Intuit India, Capgemini India, Cisco India, Mphasis Ltd, IndusInd Bank Ltd, Antrix Corporation Ltd, Dalmia Bharath Ltd, Narayana Health and Mindtree Foundation.

Mr. Abhishek Ranjan, Conference Chair, said, “These awards are to celebrate the contribution made by various stakeholders towards community service in Karnataka for socio-economic development of this State.”.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has come to the forefront since the Government of India made in mandatory for companies to take up CSR projects towards social welfare activities. In 2017-2018, a staggering Rs. 13,624 crores were spent in India on CSR with Karnataka spending the second highest amount of Rs. 951 crores. Karnataka’s Infosys and Wipro are among the top 10 companies that contribute to CSR.

According to KPMG’s CSR reporting survey 2019, over the last 5 years, there has been a 325% increase in companies reporting their outreach programs. 30% of companies have three or more CSR committee meetings a year and 76% of companies have spent 2% or more of their turnover on CSR. Other highlights include 150% increase in number of companies that have agreed to carry forward unspent 2% to the next year and 18% of companies have a CSR Foundation.

According to India Briefing’s CSR report, the education sector received the maximum funding (38 percent of the total) followed by hunger, poverty, and healthcare (25 percent), environmental sustainability (12 percent), rural development (11 percent). Programs such as technology incubators, sports, armed forces, reducing inequalities saw negligible spends.

This year, for the first time, two of the most under-represented CSR fields of Diversity & Inclusion and Sports were deliberated in panel discussions.

Awarded Honorary Doctorate by International Global Peace University

Sri. Jayachandra Raju, Chairman of Global Education Trust Mysore, who has served the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations as Aviation Specialist in various countries for the past 24 years is conferred with Hon. Doctorate by the International Global Peace University for his dedication to global peacekeeping, environment protection and social service.The Doctorate was presented in the Award Ceremony of the International Achievers Council in Pondicherry, South India.

Hailing from a humble family, Jayachandra Raju progressively qualified with Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering, Diploma in Management, B.Com, Diploma in Aviation Management, Aviation related courses in Singapore, France, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and United Nations Courses in Peacekeeping & Conflict Resolution, Humanitarian Relief Operations, Logistic Support Operations, Ethics in Peacekeeping, International Humanitarian Law and Law of Armed Conflict.

After serving the Indian Aviation Industry (Hindustan Aeronautics in Bangalore) for more than fifteen years, he joined the United Nations as an Aviation Specialist in 1996 and has served in various conflict-ridden countries of the world.

AGARWAL HOSPITALS & GENE RESEARCH FOUNDATION/IMMUNOHEMATOLOGY OF BLOOD TRANSFUSION-VICTORIA HOSPITALS Successfully conducted the 3rd ISGCT 2019 in Grand Scale under the aegis of RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, INDIAN COUNCIL FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH, NIMHANS and with BANGALORE MEDICAL COLLEGE from NOVEMBER 10th to 12th 2019.

Through this convention they conducted workshops, wetlabs, didactic lectures, symposiums and panel discussions on various aspects of the budding field of medicine “STEM CELLS and GENETIC ENGINEERING” in one word “MEDICAL GENOMICS” Sessions and discussed about GENETIC UNDERSTANDING OF COMPLEX DISEASES, PERSONALIZED MEDICINE, TRANSLATIONAL APPLICATION, CLINICAL DIAGNOSTICS, CELLS AND MOLECULAR AND APPLICATIONS SURGICAL OF STEM REGENERATIVE MEDICINE, GUIDELINES FOR STEM CELLS AND GENE THERAPY.

Scientists and doctors from all over the world took part in this 3 day extravaganza and were also involved in the arena where DNA becomes the diagnostic tool. Through next gen sequencing we are able to diagnose just about everything.

Thus, it has also become a treatment tool where we take one drop of the patient’s blood give back the patients own fetal DNA and fetal stem cells by mixing it with MORPHOGENETIC ACTIVATOR OF NUCLEIC ACIDS (MANA) and re injecting the patient.
