25th June 2024: PepsiCo India, a leading global consumer packaged goods company today announced the launch of RevolutioNari – A Revolution for the Nari, aimed at empowering 1 million women nationwide, in partnership with a consortium of organizations spanning 1,000 days. The program is dedicated to building awareness that will enable women to take informed career decisions, provide upskilling opportunities to enhance employability, and unlock direct and indirect opportunities to improve livelihood prospects in unconventional roles like sales, manufacturing, and agriculture within the FMCG sector across levels. Built on PepsiCo India’s principals of building a ‘Partnership of Progress’ that emphasizes on a collaborative approach for the collective good of the community, this transformative program will bridge the gender inequality gap in the workforce across India.

RevolutioNari aligns with PepsiCo India’s pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) philosophy, directly integrating into its key pillars – Positive Agriculture and Positive Value Chain, that guide the company’s future endeavors to positively impact the environment and communities. Recognizing the underrepresentation of women in India’s growing economy, PepsiCo India identified the missed potential a decade ago and has worked on building well-recognized programs to promote inclusivity at workplace. RevolutioNari is another step in the company’s commitment to bridging the gender gap in India’s workforce, thereby contributing to the economic development of the country.

In the first phase of RevolutioNari, PepsiCo India is targeting undergraduate women in multiple disciplines, including STEM and Agriculture, underprivileged women, and senior secondary school students across 100 cities in India. By joining forces with partner organizations and leading corporates, the company will leverage collective expertise and resources to amplify the impact of its RevolutioNari campaign. So far, PepsiCo India has onboarded ecosystem partner organizations – Nirmaan Organization and The Social Lab Foundation, and Internshala, the tech partners to enable community reach-out for the initiative.

As part of this project, the company is introducing several training programs, including technical skill-building and internships, specifically designed for women in the manufacturing and sales sectors. Building awareness and unlocking direct and indirect livelihood opportunities are integral components of the RevolutioNari campaign. Numerous awareness and frontline hiring initiatives like Learn Today Give Tomorrow (LTGT) program, Lateral Hiring programs for Managerial and frontline jobs and Internship Programs specially curated to enable young women   are being set in motion to achieve a gender-balanced workforce at PepsiCo India by 2026 across all levels. Moreover, a Tripartite MoU with the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) & Directorate of Employment & Craftsmanship training (DECT) has been signed for upskilling women students from industrial training institutes in Assam to develop a pool of qualified women for front-line plant positions at PepsiCo India.

Shiv Nadar University Chennai Announces the Launch of ’Shiv Nadar School of Law’

Chennai, 24th June 2024 – Shiv Nadar University Chennai, an initiative by Shiv Nadar Foundation, unveils the Shiv Nadar School of Law. Starting in August 2024, the school will offer a five-year BA.LLB program.  Approved by the Bar Council of India, the law school features faculty trained at top universities worldwide and world-class infrastructure. In addition, twenty percent of the faculty will be active legal practitioners and the placement team will have industry experience. 6th June, 2024 – SenseAI Ventures, a leading AI fund, today announced the launch of a whitepaper, “Artificial Intelligence: Beyond the Hype,” and the results of a survey of Indian AI startup founders. The whitepaper explores crucial topics such as AI’s progress in 2023, its tangible effects on industries, the layered AI technology stack, novel research directions, and adoption models, serving as a roadmap for understanding AI’s current and future trajectory. This analytical piece, contributed to by SenseAI’s Managing Partner, Rahul Agarwalla, among others, offers a nuanced view into the practical impact and future direction of artificial intelligence across various sectors.

The whitepaper highlights that $17 billion was invested by big tech (Nvidia, Microsoft, Google, AWS) into foundational AI models, while $50 billion worth of GPUs were sold in 2023. This massive investment in AI infrastructure is expected to drive explosive growth in AI applications in the future, similar to how investments in physical infrastructure like roads and airports lead to economic growth.

To complement the whitepaper, SenseAI also conducted a comprehensive survey of around 100 startup founders in India who work in the AI space. The survey findings provide valuable insights into the current state and future prospects of AI in India. One of the key revelations is that SaaS (Software as a Service) has emerged as the dominant business model among the surveyed startups, indicating a growing preference for cloud-based AI solutions. The survey also highlights a moderate demand for customized AI solutions among the clients of these startups, suggesting an increasing recognition of AI’s potential to address specific business needs.

However, the survey also sheds light on the challenges in AI adoption. The most common hurdles faced by clients, as reported by the respondents, include cost, complexity, and limited understanding of AI’s implications. These findings underscore the need for more accessible and user-friendly AI solutions, as well as better education and awareness about AI’s potential benefits and risks.

In terms of the technologies utilized by the surveyed startups, Cloud takes the lead, followed closely by OpenAI’s GPT-4o. This indicates a growing reliance on cloud infrastructure and large language models in AI development. Interestingly, the respondents also highlighted Fine Tuned Models / Proprietary Algorithms and Unique Data as their most critical intellectual properties or unique features, emphasizing the importance of customization and domain-specific expertise in AI.

Looking ahead, the survey respondents identified security, bias, and data availability/readiness as the most significant risks associated with AI. These concerns reflect the broader societal and ethical challenges that come with the rapid advancement of AI technologies. On a more optimistic note, the respondents singled out Explainable AI (XAI), AI agents, and Quantum Computing as the emerging technologies and trends that can create the most impact in the future.

The whitepaper and survey also underscore the transformative potential of AI across various sectors. Investment in AI within healthcare is projected to reach $18.8 billion by 2027, highlighting AI’s critical role in diagnostic and analytical applications. The AI fraud management sector is forecasted to grow from a $10.4 billion valuation in 2023 to $57.1 billion by 2033, with an annual growth rate of 18.5%, underscoring AI’s increasing importance in financial security. The expanding capabilities and decreasing costs of AI signal a surge in AI applications, poised to redefine productivity and transform job markets. Research indicates that AI-adopting firms are on track to double their market share, with efficiency gains potentially reaching tenfold by 2024.
