In a move aimed at enhancing urban mobility, Namma Yatri has launched a new in-app feature called ‘Namma Transit’, designed to streamline multimodal public transport for Bengaluru commuters. The new service integrates Metro, autos, and cabs, guiding users through their entire journey in real time.

Namma Transit functions as a personal transit assistant, providing commuters with step-by-step directions — from the nearest Metro station and platform details to live tracking of Metro and auto rides. The app also offers alerts for boarding, switching modes, and disembarking, ensuring a smoother, faster, and more affordable commute.

At the launch event, Namma Metro MD Ravishankar J. highlighted the broader vision: “Metro’s goal is not just connectivity, but to give citizens back time. This collaboration is a step toward that.” The initiative is aligned with the Beckn protocol and ONDC framework, aiming to create an open, commuter-first mobility ecosystem.

“Citizens Penalised, But Who Holds the System Accountable?” asks G.S. Gopal Raaj

BENGALURU, July 24, 2025 – “Traffic penalties are swiftly imposed on citizens, but who takes responsibility for the system’s failures?” questioned G.S. Gopal Raaj, Editor of City Today News and Tj Vision Media, while highlighting the increasing frustration among urban commuters over civic and administrative apathy.

He pointed out that while common citizens face steep fines for various traffic violations —

Riding without a helmet (₹1,000),

Illegal parking (₹3,000),

Driving without insurance (₹1,000),

Drunk driving (₹10,000),

Entering no-entry zones (₹5,000),

Using mobile phones while driving (₹2,000),

Lacking pollution certificates (₹1,100), and

Triple-seat riding (₹2,000),


— serious civic failures continue without accountability.

“Pothole-ridden roads, malfunctioning traffic signals, encroached footpaths, unlit streets, stray animals on roads, and garbage-filled drains — all these endanger public safety. Yet no action is taken against the authorities responsible,” Gopal Raaj observed.

He further added, “If a citizen is penalised for failing to wear a helmet, why is there no penalty when a citizen is injured due to an unrepaired pothole? Why does the system remain silent when garbage clogs our roads or when unmonitored stray animals cause road accidents?”

Raaj criticised the lack of accountability among government departments and civic agencies, stating, “Citizens pay taxes, follow rules, and still suffer due to administrative negligence. It appears that only the public is bound by laws — the system seems exempt.”

Calling for balanced governance, he emphasised the need for equal responsibility and legal accountability for public authorities. “True governance demands fairness. It’s time the government and civic bodies are held answerable too,” he concluded.

“The irregularities and corruption within BWSSB will soon be exposed, as evidence of mismanagement and negligence is being closely examined,” said G.S. Gopal Raaj, Editor of City Today News and Tj Vision Media.
