Nine-Year Documentary on Frogs Premieres in Bengaluru: “Little Planet: A Tale of Frogs”

Bengaluru, India – February 8, 2025: A remarkable nine-year journey into the hidden world of frogs has culminated in the highly anticipated premiere of Little Planet: A Tale of Frogs. Directed by Suhas Premkumar and produced by Raj Gore and Suhas Premkumar, this groundbreaking documentary sheds light on the vital role of frogs in our ecosystem and the urgent need for their conservation.

Set in the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich biodiversity, the film captures the delicate balance of life that unfolds during the monsoon season. Through stunning visuals and compelling storytelling, Little Planet highlights the lives of frogs, from the calls of the Malabar gliding frog to the rhythmic movements of the dancing frogs, portraying them as bio-indicators—essential markers of environmental health.

Speaking about his journey, Director Suhas Premkumar shared, “The Western Ghats have been a part of me since childhood, but only through filming did I truly grasp the fragility of its ecosystem. Frogs, though small, carry the weight of our environment on their tiny shoulders. This film is my love letter to the Western Ghats and a plea to protect its smallest inhabitants.”

The making of Little Planet was a challenging feat, requiring perseverance and dedication over nearly a decade. Co-producer Raj Gore emphasized the film’s broader message: “This project is about more than frogs—it’s about resilience, collaboration, and hope. Suhas’s commitment over nine years is inspiring, and I am proud to have been part of this journey. It’s time we listen to the frogs before it’s too late.”

Frogs, often overlooked in conservation efforts, face severe threats due to deforestation, habitat loss, and climate change. Through Little Planet, the filmmakers aim to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect these creatures and their rapidly diminishing habitats.

The documentary will have its exclusive premiere on March 2, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:30 PM at the MARC Auditorium, MAHE Campus, Bengaluru. The team has expressed deep gratitude to Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan (Pro-VC, MAHE Bengaluru), Dr. Raghavendra Prabhu (Deputy Registrar), Dr. Arindam Das (Director, Srishti Manipal), and Mr. Basawaraj Kupposad (Deputy Director, General Services, MAHE Bengaluru) for their support in making this event possible.

With Little Planet: A Tale of Frogs, the filmmakers hope to ignite a movement—one that encourages viewers to appreciate and protect the world’s smallest yet most significant creatures. As Suhas Premkumar puts it, “If this film touches even one heart or inspires someone to take action for nature, these nine years will have been worth it.”
