ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 25: ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಜಯದೇವ ಹೃದ್ರೋಗ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಪಾಸಣೆಗೆ ಹೋದ ಬಡ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕನಿಗೆ ವೈದ್ಯರಿಂದಲೇ ಅವಮಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೂಂಡಾವರ್ತನೆ ನಡೆದಿರುವ ಗಂಭೀರ ಘಟನೆ ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದೆ.
ದಿನಗೂಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಎಸ್. ಶಿವಶಂಕರ್ (ಮೈಸೂರು) ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 5ರಂದು ತೀವ್ರ ಎದೆನೋವು ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಯದೇವ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇಸಿಜಿ, ಇಕೋ ತಪಾಸಣೆ ನಂತರ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ವೈದ್ಯ ಡಾ. ದಿನೇಶ್ ಅವರ ಬಳಿ ಹೋದಾಗ, ಅವರು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡುವ ಬದಲು ಕುವೆಂಪುನಗರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಮ್ಮ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಕ್ಲಿನಿಕ್ಗೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಆರೋಪ.
“ನಾನು ಪರಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಬಡ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕ, ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ವೆಚ್ಚ ಭರಿಸಲು ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಾಗ ವೈದ್ಯರು ಅವಮಾನಕಾರಿ ಪದಗಳಿಂದ ನಿಂದಿಸಿ, ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಬರದಂತೆ ಹೊರ ಹಾಕಲು ಹೇಳಿದರು” ಎಂದು ಶಿವಶಂಕರ್ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನಿಂದ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಕ್ಕೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ವೈದ್ಯರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಯಿಂದ ₹2000 ಲಂಚ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಸಂಗತಿಯೂ ಬಯಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಘಟನೆಯ ನಂತರ, ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 22ರಂದು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 12 ರಿಂದ 1 ಗಂಟೆಯೊಳಗೆ ವೈದ್ಯರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳಾದ ನಂಜುಂಡ ಮತ್ತು ಸುರೇಶ್ ಹಲವಾರು ಬಾರಿ ಕರೆ ಮಾಡಿ, “ಈ ವಿಚಾರವನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಡಿ” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾಣ ಬೆದರಿಕೆ ಹಾಕಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
“ಡಾ. ದಿನೇಶ್ ಪ್ರಭಾವಶಾಲಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ, ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳ ಪತ್ನಿಯ ಸಂಬಂಧಿ. ಅವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಏನೂ ಕ್ರಮ ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂಬ ಮಾತು ಜಯದೇವ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಒಳ ವಲಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಕೇಳಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ದೂರುದಾರರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಶಿವಶಂಕರ್ ಅವರು, “ಇಂತಹ ವೈದ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅಮಾನತ್ತು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಬಡ ಮತ್ತು ದಲಿತ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುವ ವೈದ್ಯರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸರ್ಕಾರ, ಮಾನವ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ಆಯೋಗ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಕಠಿಣ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ನನಗೆ ಬಂದಿರುವ ಜೀವ ಬೆದರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ನೀಡಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಚಿವರು ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾನವ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ಆಯೋಗಕ್ಕೆ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

BENGALURU, August 25, 2025:India head coach Khalid Jamil has officially announced the 23-member squad that will represent the country in the upcoming CAFA Nations Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in Tajikistan. The announcement came on Monday during a press conference at the Press Club of Bangalore, attended by AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, Vice President N A Haris, and Deputy Secretary General M Satyanarayan.
The senior men’s team, which has been in a 10-day preparatory camp in Bengaluru, is set to fly out to Hisor, Tajikistan, later in the evening. India’s campaign begins against the hosts Tajikistan on August 29, followed by matches against powerhouses Iran on September 1 and Afghanistan on September 4.
Coach Jamil, overseeing his first major international assignment as head coach, expressed confidence in the balance of the squad, which includes a mix of seasoned campaigners and promising youngsters. He stressed the importance of the tournament as an opportunity to test India’s strength against strong Central Asian opponents in a competitive setting.

India Aligns with Global Influenza Vaccination Shift, Experts Stress Preventive Action
WHO’s updated flu vaccine recommendation highlights urgent need to improve coverage in India

Globally, influenza continues to be a serious public health challenge, claiming an estimated 400,000 respiratory and 300,000 additional lives annually. While nearly half of the population in the US and Europe is vaccinated against seasonal flu each year, India lags far behind, with coverage at less than 1.5%.

According to WHO’s latest recommendation, the B/Yamagata strain has not been detected globally since March 2020, making its inclusion in quadrivalent influenza vaccines unnecessary. The US CDC has already removed B/Yamagata from all influenza vaccines starting 2024–25, a move backed by global surveillance data to improve vaccine efficacy and production.
India’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has also advised adopting the updated WHO-recommended strains to reduce the burden of influenza and influenza-like illnesses, which significantly affect infants, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions.
India faces influenza outbreaks year-round, with two major peaks during the monsoon and winter. Each year, the disease is estimated to cause around 127,000 deaths, of which 65% occur among people over 65 years, and 15–20% among children under five. Experts highlight the urgent need for annual vaccination of high-risk groups to lower mortality and disease severity.
