On this special occasion of Indian Christian Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all members of the Christian community across our great nation.
This day, observed on July 3rd, commemorates the historic arrival of St. Thomas the Apostle to the shores of India in 52 AD, marking the beginning of the Christian faith in our land. It is a proud reminder that Christianity in India is not a borrowed or recent tradition, but a deeply rooted and integral part of our civilizational history — over 1970 years old.
As we celebrate Indian Christian Day, let us also reflect on the timeless values of peace, love, compassion, service, and unity that the Christian faith has always stood for. The Christian community in India has made significant contributions in the fields of education, healthcare, social welfare, and nation-building. These contributions exemplify the spirit of service and selflessness.

Let this day inspire us all — regardless of faith — to work together for a more inclusive, just, and compassionate society. In times of division, may the legacy of Saint Thomas and the message of Christ guide us toward harmony and mutual respect.
On behalf of City Today News, TJ Vision Media, and personally, I salute the Indian Christian community and pray for continued blessings, peace, and progress for all.
Happy Indian Christian Day! May the light of faith and the spirit of unity shine bright in our hearts and our nation.

Bengaluru, July 2, 2025 — Alleging large-scale corruption and political vendetta in the disbursal of government grants to religious institutions, the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Bhima Gharjane Neelisene State Committee) has demanded the immediate dismissal of Wakf, Housing, and Minority Welfare Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmad Khan and criminal proceedings against K. Anwar Basha, former chairman of the Karnataka State Wakf Board.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Club of Bengaluru, the committee alleged that despite the Karnataka government releasing ₹150 crore on May 31, 2025 (under budget head 2225-04-102-0-03), no funds were allocated to religious institutions in Surpur constituency, while other constituencies across the state received grants.
The allocation was intended for the repair, restoration, and development of mosques, ashurkhanas, graveyards, and related institutions. Legislators from across the state were instructed to submit priority works, and most received funds—except Surpur, the committee said.
Despite submitting a proposal in October 2024 for 8 urgent works estimated at ₹3.19 crore, Surpur received “not even a single paisa,” the committee noted. The reason, they allege, is the refusal to pay a 25% commission (kickback) allegedly demanded by Minister Zameer Ahmad Khan and former Wakf Board chief K. Anwar Basha.
Election Manipulation Alleged
The committee also accused Anwar Basha of misusing his position during the Wakf Committee chairman elections by promising increased funding and lower commission percentages in exchange for votes. It is alleged that areas that voted for Basha received substantial funding, while those that did not — including Surpur — were deliberately denied.
They further claimed that even though funds were not disbursed in 2022–23, selective release took place this year. Notably, supporters of Sajjad Ali Al Hussaini Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah, who is now the current Wakf Board President and hails from Kalaburagi, were also excluded from funding because they backed a different candidate.
“This is clear political vendetta and misuse of public office to punish poor religious institutions in Surpur, many of which are affiliated with Sajjad Naseen. It is unjust and communal in nature,” said Dr. Jaffar Hussain (State Vice President), Naganna Kalladevanahalli (State Convener), T.M. Muniraju (Bengaluru District Convener), and others.
Demands and Action
The committee has called for:
An independent investigation by a retired High Court judge
The removal of Zameer Ahmad Khan from the Cabinet
Filing of criminal cases against both Zameer Ahmad Khan and K. Anwar Basha
A delegation from the organization is set to submit a formal complaint to the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, seeking his intervention.

The initiative was organized by the Ulema (Islamic scholars) associated with the humanitarian movement “Payam-e-Insaniyat” — The Message of Humanity.
The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests. Other prominent attendees included Sri Jagadish Reddy, Secretary, Smt. Shyla H.K., Headmistress of the school, as well as teachers and staff.

The distribution drive aimed to support underprivileged students by providing them with basic educational resources, thereby encouraging academic continuity and inclusivity. The organizers emphasized the importance of fostering unity, compassion, and the collective responsibility of nurturing young learners—ideals central to the philosophy of Payam-e-Insaniyat.
The event was warmly received by the school community and served as a reminder of the positive impact that faith-based humanitarian efforts can have on grassroots education.
Bengaluru, July 1, 2025: India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 — Asia’s premier digital technology platform — continued to build excitement with a high-energy roadshow held in Bengaluru today. Organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the roadshow underlined Bengaluru’s critical role as a launchpad for innovation, thanks to its vibrant startup ecosystem and leadership in deep-tech domains.
As part of its broader vision, IMC 2025 is placing a strong focus on startups and innovation through its flagship ASPIRE program, designed to connect over 500 emerging companies with top investors, incubators, and international partners through mentorship, live pitching, and networking opportunities.
The Bengaluru roadshow was held alongside the Matrix Global Summit 2025 hosted by TiE Bangalore, a major gathering of industry leaders and innovators focused on deep-tech areas such as generative AI, advanced manufacturing, blockchain, and sustainable industrial technologies.
Government Signals Strong Support for Innovation
Speaking at the event, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications & Rural Development, emphasized India’s digital transformation journey: “With over 1.2 billion mobile subscribers and 1 billion broadband users, we’ve connected 2.2 lakh villages through BharatNet. We’re investing $18 billion more to bring high-speed internet to an additional 40,000 gram panchayats and 15 million rural households. From importing 75% of our mobile devices, India is now exporting devices worth ₹1.8 trillion annually. This is not just ‘Made for India’, it’s ‘Made by India’.”
He also highlighted the impact of the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF), which has already supported 120 high-tech startups with nearly ₹500 crore in funding. “India is now seen as a global digital leader — whether in Japan, Thailand, or ASEAN — and platforms like IMC play a key role in showcasing our capabilities,” he added.
Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of DoT and Chairman of the Digital Communications Commission, noted: “India Mobile Congress is more than an event; it represents the strategic role of telecom in economic growth, digital inclusion, and national security. From lagging in 4G to keeping pace in 5G, India now aims to lead in 6G. Through initiatives like TTDF, we are reducing risks for startups in a highly regulated global industry.”
Shri Abhijit Kishore, Chairman of COAI, remarked: “Our theme for IMC 2025, ‘Innovate to Transform’, reflects our belief that technology must create real impact across sectors and borders. IMC will continue to be the platform that shapes India’s digital future.”
Key Announcements: Startup World Cup & Open API Hackathon
IMC 2025 also unveiled two major initiatives aimed at energizing the startup and developer ecosystems:
Startup World Cup 2025 – India Regional: Organized under the ASPIRE program in collaboration with Pegasus Tech Ventures, this prestigious pitch competition will give Indian startups a chance to win a $1 million grand prize at the global finals in San Francisco. The platform will connect founders with top investors, mentors, and global partners.
Open API Hackathon: In partnership with the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, this hackathon invites developers to build real-world applications using live telecom network APIs. The goal is to demonstrate how open APIs can unlock next-gen digital services across fintech, mobility, logistics, and more — features traditionally exclusive to telecom operators.
IMC 2025: What to Expect
Scheduled to take place from October 8–11, 2025, at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi, IMC 2025 is expected to draw over 150,000 visitors from 150+ countries, host 400+ exhibitors, and feature 7,000+ global delegates. The event will include 800+ speakers across 100 conference sessions, and showcase 1,000+ cutting-edge use cases spanning 5G, 6G, AI, IoT, electronics manufacturing, and green tech.
The ASPIRE program alone will connect startups to over 300 investors, incubators, VCs, and accelerators, reinforcing IMC’s commitment to catalyzing India’s innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.
