Karnataka, February 23, 2026: Strengthening its push towards nurturing emerging creative talent, ZEE Entertainment Enterprises has announced the launch of the Zee Short Film Contest, a nationwide, multi-platform initiative aimed at identifying and supporting the next generation of Indian filmmakers.

Positioned as one of the most ambitious multilingual talent discovery programmes in the country, the contest will be conducted across seven major languages — Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada — offering aspiring storytellers from diverse cultural backgrounds an opportunity to present their work on a national platform.

A key highlight of the initiative is its distinguished jury panel comprising prominent filmmakers representing different regional industries. The panel includes Anurag Kashyap, known for redefining contemporary Hindi cinema through films such as Gangs of Wasseypur; Ravi Jadhav, celebrated for culturally rooted works like Natarang; and Srijit Mukherji, acclaimed for narrative-driven films including Autograph and Jaatishwar.

The jury further features Nag Ashwin, director of the large-scale sci-fi spectacle Kalki 2898 AD; actor-director Samuthirakani, recognised for socially relevant storytelling; Lijo Jose Pellissery, whose visually striking film Jallikattu gained global attention; and Kannada filmmaker Hemanth Rao, known for emotionally nuanced cinema such as Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu.

By bringing together influential filmmakers across linguistic industries, the contest seeks to create a structured platform that combines mentorship, visibility and opportunity. Organisers say the programme will not only recognise fresh voices but also serve as a creative incubator aligned with India’s rapidly evolving content ecosystem spanning digital, television and theatrical formats.

Commenting on the initiative, Kartik Mahadev, Chief Marketing Officer, ZEE & ZEE5, said the contest aims to bridge long-standing access gaps faced by emerging filmmakers. He noted that the platform is designed to integrate regional creativity with national reach while strengthening India’s storytelling pipeline.

Members of the jury also encouraged participation, highlighting the role short films often play as entry points into mainstream cinema. They collectively emphasised passion, originality and storytelling conviction as the key factors that can help aspiring creators stand out.

Through the Zee Short Film Contest, ZEE hopes to offer participants industry recognition, cash rewards and potential collaboration opportunities within its content network. PM inaugurates Jewar chip facility project, marking major leap in India’s semiconductor mission

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone for India Chip Private Limited, a joint venture between HCL Group and Foxconn, marking a significant step in India’s semiconductor manufacturing ambitions. The ceremony, held virtually, relates to the upcoming Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility being developed at YEIDA in Jewar, Greater Noida.

The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with industry leaders including Roshni Nadar Malhotra and Bob Chen.

India Chip Pvt Ltd, structured as a 60:40 partnership between HCL and Foxconn, will establish a state-of-the-art OSAT facility with a planned investment of ₹3,700 crore. The unit is expected to commence operations by 2028 and focus on manufacturing display driver chips. Officials said the project is likely to generate more than 3,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities while fostering local supply chains and attracting semiconductor ecosystem partners.

With an estimated processing capacity of 20,000 wafers per month, the facility is poised to support India’s rising domestic semiconductor demand and contribute to a resilient, self-reliant supply chain.

Speaking on the occasion, Malhotra described the project as a milestone in HCL’s growth journey, particularly as the company marks its 50th anniversary. She acknowledged the support extended by both the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government and emphasised the company’s commitment to strengthening the state’s emerging technology and manufacturing landscape.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu noted that the joint venture reflects the company’s strategy of building and localising manufacturing capabilities in India while supporting local communities through its operational model.

Industry observers said the collaboration combines HCL’s engineering expertise with Foxconn’s global manufacturing strength, positioning the upcoming facility as a key contributor to India’s semiconductor ecosystem and high-tech manufacturing aspirations.

ಒಂದು ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಮಿಷನರ್ ಹುದ್ದೆಯನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತರಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ, ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ವಾಸಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ನಿವಾಸವನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು, ಒಂದು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಕಾಲೋನಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದರು. ಉನ್ನತ ಹುದ್ದೆ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಅವರ ನಡೆನುಡಿಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಗೋಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಕಾಲೋನಿಯ ಪಾರ್ಕ್‌ಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಸಂಜೆಯ ನಡಿಗೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯಾರೊಂದಿಗೂ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವರತ್ತ ನೋಡಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಮನಸ್ಸೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ತಾನು ಉಳಿದವರಿಗಿಂತ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ, ಉನ್ನತ ಎನ್ನುವ ಭಾವನೆ ಅವರೊಳಗೆ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿತ್ತು.

ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಪಾರ್ಕ್‌ನ ಬೆಂಚ್ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ವೃದ್ಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಬಂದು ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತು ಮಾತು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ಕಮಿಷನರ್‌ ಅವರು ಎದುರಿನವರ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಗಮನಕೊಡದೆ, ತಾನು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಹುದ್ದೆ, ಅಧಿಕಾರ, ಸಾಧನೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಮಟ್ಟದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರು ಈ ಕಾಲೋನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವುದು ಅಪರೂಪ ಎನ್ನುವಂತೆ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

ಕೆಲ ದಿನಗಳು ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗಿದವು. ವೃದ್ಧ ಮಾತ್ರ ಶಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಕೇಳುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದರು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅವರು ಮೃದುವಾಗಿ ಮಾತು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.

“ಬಲ್ಬ್‌ಗಳು ಹೊಳೆಯುವವರೆಗೂ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಲೆ. ಒಂದು ಬಾರಿ ಸುಟ್ಟುಹೋದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಒಂದೇ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. “ನಾನು ಈ ಕಾಲೋನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಐದು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಎರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಸಂಸತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಹೇಳಿಲ್ಲ.”

ಅಷ್ಟೇ — ಕಮಿಷನರ್ ಅವರ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೌನ ಆವರಿಸಿತು.

ವೃದ್ಧ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿದರು: “ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವವರು ರೈಲ್ವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉನ್ನತ ಹುದ್ದೆಯಿಂದ ನಿವೃತ್ತರಾದವರು, ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವವರು ಸೇನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರು ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದವರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಯಾರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವೆನ್ನಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.”

“ಸುಟ್ಟುಹೋದ ಬಲ್ಬ್‌ಗಳಂತೆ, ನಿವೃತ್ತಿಯ ನಂತರ ನಮ್ಮ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಮಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಧಿಕಾರ, ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನ—all temporary. ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಕಮಿಷನರ್ ಆಗಿರಲಿ, ಕಾನ್ಸ್ಟೇಬಲ್ ಆಗಿರಲಿ—ಸೇವೆಯ ನಂತರ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮಾನವರೇ.”

ಅವರು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಉದಾಹರಣೆ ನೀಡಿದರು: “ಉದಯಿಸುವ ಸೂರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಅಸ್ತಮಿಸುವ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನೋಡುವರು. ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇದೇ ಸತ್ಯ. ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಇರುವವರೆಗೂ ಗೌರವ, ನಂತರ ನೆನಪು ಮಾತ್ರ.”

“ಚದುರಂಗದ ಆಟದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜನಿಗೂ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೂ ಬೇರೆ ಮೌಲ್ಯ. ಆದರೆ ಆಟ ಮುಗಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳೂ ಒಂದೇ ಡಬ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುತ್ತವೆ. ಜೀವನವೂ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.”

ಆ ವೃದ್ಧರ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಆ ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಧ್ವನಿಸಿದವು.

ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಹಾಯಕಿಯರ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಶಾಶ್ವತಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು, ಸುವರ್ಣ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ವೇತನ ಜಾರಿಗೆ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದು, 2011ರಿಂದ ನಿವೃತ್ತರಾದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತೆಯರು-ಸಹಾಯಕಿಯರಿಗೆ ಗ್ರಾಚ್ಯುಟಿ ಮಂಜೂರು ಮಾಡುವುದು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮನವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಇದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗೆ ಇಎಸ್‌ಐ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಒದಗಿಸಿ ಗಂಭೀರ ಅನಾರೋಗ್ಯದ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಸಂಬಳ ಸಹಿತ ರಜೆ ನೀಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಾಜಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಎಚ್.ಡಿ. ಕುಮಾರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅವರ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭವಾದ ನೂರು ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಅನುದಾನ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಆಗದೆ ಇರುವುದನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಹಣ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

2018ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗೌರವಧನ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳವಾದ ಬಳಿಕ ಇದುವರೆಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಣೆ ಆಗದಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಪೋಶಣ ಟ್ರ್ಯಾಕರ್, ಮಾತೃ ವಂದನಾ, ಸಿಬಿಇ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆ, ಮಿಷನ್ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹೊಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ವೇತನ ಜಾರಿಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಸಂಘಟನೆ ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದೆ. ಕೇಂದ್ರದಿಂದ ನೀಡಿದ 4ಜಿ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಸಾಧನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಡೇಟಾ ಮಿತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಹೊಸ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಸಮರ್ಪಕ ಡೇಟಾ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಮನವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನಗಳಿದ್ದರೂ ಅಂಗನವಾಡಿ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗೆ ಬಿಎಲ್‌ಒ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ಹೇರಿಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಖಂಡಿಸಿ ಅದರಿಂದ ವಿನಾಯಿತಿ ನೀಡಬೇಕು, ಪೋಶಣ ಟ್ರ್ಯಾಕರ್ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವ ಅನುದಾನವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಬೇಕು, ದಾಖಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಸಾಧನಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮುಂದಿರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕಾಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಗದಿಯಾದ ದಿನಸಿ ವೆಚ್ಚವನ್ನು ₹8ರಿಂದ ₹15ಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು ಫಲಾನುಭವಿಗಳ ಫೇಸ್ ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಚರ್ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕವಾಗಿ ಆರು ತಿಂಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಥವಾ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ನಡೆಸಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಮನವಿ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದೆ.
