Bengaluru: The Karnataka Assembly, which should be focusing on critical public issues, is instead embroiled in discussions on ‘honeytrap’ controversies, drawing strong criticism from the public. GS Gopal Raaj, Editor of City Today News, has condemned this misuse of legislative time and urged lawmakers to prioritize the real concerns of the people.
“Is the Honeytrap Issue More Important Than Public Welfare?”
At a time when Karnataka is grappling with pressing issues like unemployment, farmer distress, education crises, and failing infrastructure, elected representatives are spending hours debating a politically charged scandal.
Speaking on the matter, GS Gopal Raaj remarked: “Legislators are meant to serve the people, not indulge in endless debates over controversies that law enforcement agencies should handle. The Assembly should be a platform for policy-making, not a stage for political drama.”
Public Backlash Over Misplaced Priorities
Citizens, activists, and political analysts have echoed similar concerns. Many believe that discussions on governance, economic growth, and welfare schemes should take precedence over sensational political scandals.
“If our lawmakers spend more time solving real problems instead of debating scandals, Karnataka would see meaningful progress,” a public policy expert commented.

ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ, ನಿರುದ್ಯೋಗ, ರೈತ ಸಂಕಟ ಮುಂತಾದ ತುರ್ತು ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಉಲ್ಬಣಗೊಂಡಿರುವಾಗ, ಶಾಸಕರು ವಿವಾದಾತ್ಮಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಚರ್ಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೋಡಗಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. GS ಗೋಪಾಲ್ ರಾಜ್ ಅವರ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ, “ಜನಪರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳ ಬದಲು ಅನಗತ್ಯ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಹಗರಣಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗಂಟೆಗಟ್ಟಲೆ ಚರ್ಚಿಸುವುದರಿಂದ, ಜನಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳ ನೈತಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಜನರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲ ನೀಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯೋನ್ಮುಖ ನಿರ್ಧಾರಗಳತ್ತ ಗಮನಹರಿಸಬೇಕೇ ಹೊರತು, ಜನರನ್ನು ನಿರಾಶೆಗೊಳಿಸುವ ನಾಟಕವಲ್ಲ.” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
“ಜನಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಪರ್ಯಾಯ ರಾಜಕೀಯದಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತವಾಗಿ, ಜನಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರ ದಿನನಿತ್ಯದ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಬೇಕು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆಯು ಜನಪರ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳ ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾಗಬೇಕು, ಗಾಸಿಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಾದಗಳ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಒತ್ತಿಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರು, ರಾಜಕೀಯ ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಕೂಡ GS ಗೋಪಾಲ್ ರಾಜ್ ಅವರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, “ಹನಿ ಟ್ರ್ಯಾಪ್ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತನಿಖಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲಿ. ಆದರೆ, ಶಾಸಕರು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವ ಜನಪರ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು” ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

10. ಎಸ್‌ಸಿ/ಎಸ್‌ಟಿ ಭೂ ಹಕ್ಕು ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಕಲಚೇತನರಿಗೂ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಬೇಕು.

ಬಸವನ ಬಾಗೇವಾಡಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದ ಈ ಬೈಕ್ ರ್ಯಾಲಿ ನಿಡಗುಂದಿ, ಹುನಗುಂದ, ಇಲಕಲ್ಲು, ಕುಷ್ಟಗಿ, ಹೊಸಪೇಟೆ, ಚಿತ್ರದುರ್ಗ, ತುಮಕೂರು ಮುಂತಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ವಿಧಾನಸೌಧಕ್ಕೆ ತಲುಪಲಿದೆ.
