Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital Supports Children’s Nutrition through Akshaya Patra Foundation’s Mid-Day Meal Program




Bengaluru, July 2, 2024 – Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital has taken a notable step in supporting child nutrition by sponsoring mid-day meals as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. In collaboration with The Akshaya Patra Foundation, the leading NGO in implementing the PM POSHAN program, the hospital has contributed to serving over 424,252 meals to more than 2,556 beneficiaries in 34 government and government-aided schools for the fiscal year 2023-24.

In addition to the meal sponsorship, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital has also contributed a food delivery van in Hubli to assist in meal distribution, facilitating the delivery of approximately 6,000 meals daily across 28 schools in the location. This further enhances the hospital’s commitment to community welfare and aligns with Akshaya Patra’s mission to eliminate classroom hunger.

The State of Karnataka should Form a gender and sexual minorities Transgender State Welfare Board corporation and allocate 200 cores annually for overall development

The Alliance for Gender and Sexuality Minorities Social Justice is a coalition that includes Jeeva, Jana Seva Samiti, Karnataka Mangalamukhi Sangha, Ondede, Payana, Parivartan Trust, and Swatantra. This group, formed by sexual minorities and leaders from the Sexuality Minorities community in Karnataka, addressing is dedicated to advancing gender equality and advocating for social justice. They focus various social, economic, and political issues in India.

Remember this: The group was launched on July 2, 2024, to commemorate the historic Delhi High a Court decision on the same date in 2009. The 2009 decision overturned the 150-year-old Section 377, legalizing consensual homosexual activities between adults. This landmark judgment was followed by the Supreme Court’s 2018 ruling, which decriminalized consensual sex among adults, affirming that sexual minorities are entitled to the same rights as the heterosexual majority. The Constitution of India guarantees equal fundamental rights and dignity to all individuals..

The Alliance for Gender and Sexuality Minorities Social Justice will work in solidarity and collaboration with various rights groups, as well as the judiciary, legislative, and executive bodies of India and Karnataka state, to bring about social changes and development of advancements for the love, life, and dignity of sexual minorities in the state of Karnataka.

The group demands the following actions from the Government of India and the State of Karnataka to ensure the rights and dignity of sexual minorities:

1)The Government of India should announce the 15th of April as National Transgender Day. 2) The State of Karnataka should Form a gender and sexual minorities Transgender State Welfare Board corporation and allocate 200 cores annually for overall development. 3) The State of Karnataka should implement and execute the Karnataka Transgender Policy – 2017. 4) A census of the sexual minorities’ communities in Karnataka to be done. 5) Implementation of the five guarantees of the Karnataka Government. 6) Recognition of the transgender card as an official document for transgender identities across all departments. 7) Bring reservation in education for sexual minorities.

13th edition of Bengaluru INDIA NANO Launched Event to be held from August 1-3, 2024

2nd July 2024, Bengaluru: The 13th edition of Bengaluru INDIA NANO, India’s flagship event in the Nanotech sector, has been officially announced today by Shri N. S. Boseraju, Hon’ble Minister of Minor Irrigation and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka at a curtain raiser programme held in Bengaluru.

The three-day event is set to take place from August 1st – 3rd, 2024 at The Lalit, Bengaluru. The event is organized by the Dept. of Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Science & Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR).

The curtain raiser programme was also graced by Prof. Navakanta Bhat, Chair, Vision Group on Nanotechnology, Government of Karnataka, Dean, Division of Interdisciplinary Sciences, Professor, CeNSE, IISc, Bengaluru; Prof. P. S. Simultaneously, the world is grappling with severe economic and environmental consequences of energy crises. This pandemic was neither the first nor will it be the last; thus, our preparedness and resilience are of utmost importance.”
