Diabetic Retinopathy Patient Summit organized by Dr Agarwals Eye Hospitals, across IndiaGroup offers Free diabetic eye consultations for those above 50 years, till 30 Nov 2025.
Bengaluru, November 14, 2025: On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital organized the World Diabetes Day – Diabetic Retinopathy Patient Summit today. This is the third such public awareness program organized by Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, and this time it is a large-scale, multi-location public awareness program including, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Trivandrum and several other cities across India. The hospital also extended Free eye consultations for people with diabetes till 30th November 2025. Additionally, all other patients can avail 50% off on consultation fees during this period.
In India, Diabetic Retinopathy is estimated to affect nearly 3 million people living with diabetes, with poor glycemic control being one of the key contributing factors. High level of blood sugar over a prolonged duration will affect the blood vessels in our eyes, causing them to bulge and bleed which in turn cause damage to the retina and optic nerves, sometimes leading to retinal detachment.
Explaining the significance of the patient summit, Dr. Amod Nayak, Regional Head, Clinical Services, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, said, “Uncontrolled diabetes often affects the blood vessels in our eyes, and will lead to compromising the patients’ vision gradually. Hence, the symptoms most of the time are not readily apparent and the patient comes to the hospital, often at a very advanced stage. Only a detailed clinical examination can diagnose the extent of damage.” There are now several clinical options available for patients like laser therapy to repair damaged vessels, targeted eye injections to curb inflammation and vessel growth, and surgical procedures to replace the vitreous gel and restore retinal alignment in severe cases.
Dr Mohanraj, Vitreoretinal Surgeon, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, further added, “Early detection through routine eye check-ups can make a major difference in how effectively one can prevent or manage diabetes-related complications. Simple lifestyle adjustments can go a long way in preventing Type 2 diabetes or delaying its progression. Regularly tracking blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol, coupled with a healthy diet, consistent physical activity, and stress management, helps individuals maintain good health and safeguard their vision from diabetes-induced damage.”
The Chief Clinical Officer of Dr Agarwal Eye Hospital, Dr Ashvin Agarwal remarked, “Though there are treatment options available to address diabetic retinopathy, it’s always better to prevent them from happening. This is precisely why we organize such patient summits regularly, educating public on preventable eye related disorders. This Public Awareness initiative, helps them understand and prevent damage to eyes caused by diabetes and make an informed choice on treatment options.”
With millions of Indians living with diabetes, the campaign reinforces a simple yet powerful message: “Diabetes silently affects vision, regular eye check-ups are crucial, especially for those over 50. Early detection can save sight.”
Bengaluru, 27 November 2025: VIBGYOR Schools successfully concluded the 8th edition of the School Cinema International Film Festival (SCIFF) 2025, which ran from 14 to 30 November across 22 campuses, including Chokkanahalli, Hennur, Yelahanka, Electronic City and Doddanekkundi. The festival once again underscored the role of cinema as a dynamic medium for creativity, cultural exchange and experiential learning.
The inauguration ceremonies were marked by the presence of distinguished guests, Dr. Shruthi Gowda and Amrutha Naidu, who engaged with students and teachers, sharing insights from their artistic journeys. Their interaction encouraged students to view cinema not just as entertainment but as a medium that offers a deeper understanding of life and the world around them. The opening also featured lively student performances, followed by initial screenings from the international line-up.
Organised in partnership with the LXL Foundation, SCIFF 2025 presented a curated showcase of more than 100 children’s films from 25 countries, spanning over 20 Indian and international languages. The festival featured an eclectic mix of animation, live-action and documentaries, alongside short films created by students through the School Cinema programme. Screenings were segmented into four age brackets — below 7, 7+, 10+ and 13+ years — ensuring that each child experienced stories appropriate to their learning stage. Films for students up to Grade 5 were screened in English or in non-verbal formats, while those for Grade 6 and above were shown in their original languages with English subtitles, fostering cultural sensitivity and global awareness.
Speaking about the initiative, Ms. Kavita Kerawalla, Vice Chairperson of VIBGYOR Group of Schools, said, “True education must stimulate the mind while nurturing empathy, curiosity and creativity. Our association with the LXL Foundation strengthens this approach by giving students opportunities to explore diverse perspectives and connect with powerful stories. SCIFF reflects our commitment to holistic learning and aligns with the NEP 2020’s emphasis on integrating film and media into the educational experience.”
Sharing his thoughts, Syed Sultan Ahmed, Managing Director of LXL Ideas, noted, “SCIFF has always aimed to make learning meaningful and enjoyable through cinema. As pioneers in film pedagogy, we believe films are transformative tools that spark curiosity and build emotional intelligence. This festival helps children engage with new cultures, languages and stories — all essential components of holistic development.”
SCIFF 2025 further expanded its reach with support from renowned global film festivals such as Annecy (France), AniMela (India), Giffoni (Italy) and ZERO PLUS (Russia). This year’s edition is set to reach over 40,000 government schools and 1,000 private schools across India, bringing films from countries including France, Spain, Germany, the UAE, Russia and Kyrgyzstan to young viewers nationwide.
As the festival drew to a close across VIBGYOR’s campuses, students were left with a renewed appreciation for the power of storytelling. Scientifically crafted premium toothpaste designed to strengthen enamel and defend against acid wear
National, November 18, 2025: Sensodyne, the leading oral care brand under Haleon, has introduced its internationally trusted Pronamel toothpaste in India. The launch marks a significant expansion of Sensodyne’s portfolio into the specialised domain of enamel care—an essential yet often overlooked aspect of oral health.
With rising consumption of acidic foods and beverages such as citrus fruits, fizzy drinks, pickles, tea, and coffee, Indians are increasingly vulnerable to enamel erosion. This gradual weakening of enamel—the tooth’s natural protective barrier—can lead to sensitivity, discoloration, and cavities. Despite this widespread risk, awareness remains strikingly low: while 95% of Indians are exposed to enamel wear, only 8% are aware of the condition.
Aligned with Haleon’s long-term vision of strengthening everyday oral health in India, Pronamel aims to highlight the importance of proactive enamel protection through a science-backed, premium solution.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Kishlay Seth, Category Lead – Oral Health, Haleon India Subcontinent, said, “Enamel is nature’s protective shield for our teeth, yet our lifestyle—especially frequent intake of tea, coffee, and other acidic foods—gradually weakens it. Once enamel is demineralised, it cannot regenerate on its own, and the damage often goes unnoticed until it becomes irreversible. Pronamel is backed by over 20 years of scientific research and offers twice the protection against everyday acid wear. Through our awareness efforts, we hope to educate consumers on the need for consistent enamel care and offer a trusted, effective solution for daily oral health.”
To support the rollout, Pronamel has launched a wide-reaching consumer awareness campaign across television, digital platforms, social media, print, and outdoor media. The initiative aims to inform consumers about the causes and impact of enamel wear and encourage preventive oral care habits through clear, engaging communication tailored for Indian audiences.
Specially formulated with a gentle, low-abrasion system, Pronamel helps enhance fluoride absorption during brushing and supports the binding of essential minerals like calcium to the enamel surface. This process strengthens enamel, repairs early signs of acid damage, and boosts resilience against everyday acid attacks. Alongside effective cleaning, Pronamel delivers 2X enamel strengthening compared to regular toothpaste, helping prevent erosion, yellowing, and chipping—making it ideal for daily use.
Pronamel is available in two variants—Daily Protection and Fresh Breath—priced at ₹95 for 40g and ₹140 for 70g.
