June 09, 2023: According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 1 in 700 new-borns in India is born with cleft lip and cleft palate; nearly 35,000 children are born with this condition annually. The starting medical cost of a cleft surgery is approx. INR 25,000, which poses a challenge for low-income families.
DeliverHealth, in partnership with United Way Bengaluru, supported 27 cleft surgeries in Varanasi for children belonging to low-income families. 78% of the beneficiaries are infants below the age of 2 years, thereby reducing disability-affected life years and helping the children integrate into society at the earliest possible age. Under the CSR intervention, the overall development of 50 girls was supported, including their nutrition, education support through stationery, books, uniforms, etc., and counselling as well as the maintenance of the shelter home and capacity building of the staff from Sanrakshan. The shelter home takes care of victims of child abuse, child marriage, child labour, and other social issues. “There is a need to bridge the gap in India’s widening gap in affordable healthcare. We are glad to have been partnering with DeliverHealth for the past few years and leveraging their CSR support to reach out to socially and economically backward communities and empower them by making health facilities available and accessible, ” said Rajesh Krishnan, CEO of United Way Bengaluru. Towards promoting higher education for underprivileged students, DeliverHealth also provided scholarships to Engineering & Diploma students from economically backward communities. Last year, 63 students were covered, and this year 47 students (including 32 new students) from Bengaluru & Mysuru were supported. ಎನ್ಎಟಿಎಸ್ 7 ನೇ ತೆಲುಗು ಸಂಭ್ರಮದ ಸಂಚಾಲಕ ಶ್ರೀಧರ್ ಅಪ್ಪಾಸಾನಿ, “ಇಂತಹ ಮಹಿಮಾತೀತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವ ಮೊದಲು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಆದ ಮೌಲ್ಯಮಾಪನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಭಾರತದ ಈ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ದಂಪತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ನಾವು ಪಡೆದಿರುವುದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಅದೃಷ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ತೆಲುಗು ಸಮಾವೇಶಗಳ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರುತ್ತದೆ” ಎಂದರು.

ಎನ್ ಆರ್ ನಾರಾಯಣ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯವರು “ನಾಕು ತೆಲುಗು ಬಾಗ ರಾದು” ಎಂಬ ತೆಲುಗು ವಾಕ್ಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ, ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರನ್ನು ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ, “ನನ್ನ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಆಂಧ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಗಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು ಅಜ್ಜಿಯ ಊರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹ ಜನರು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ತೆಲುಗು ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ನಾವು ನೋಡಿದ ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ತೆಲುಗಿನವೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದವು – ಮಾಯಾಬಜಾರ್, ಪೆಳ್ಳಿ ಚೇಸಿ ಚೂಡು, ದೇವದಾಸ್, ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಒಂದು ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾವು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ತೆಲುಗು ಕಲಿತಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ಆದರೆ ಕಳೆದ 50 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ, ಅದನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸುವ ಸೌಕರ್ಯ ಒದಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ, ನಮಗೆ ತೆಲುಗಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವವಿದೆ, ನೆಬ್ರಸ್ಕಾದ ಬಿಸಿನೆಸ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ವಾಸುದೇವ್ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರು ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ತೆಲುಗು ಬರಹಗಾರರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ದಯೆ, ಔದಾರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯದಿಂದ ನಾನು ಗೌರವಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮಂತಹ ಸಾಧಕರಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತೇಜನ, ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಶಕ್ತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾವು ಏನನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೋ ಅದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲೆ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ನಾವು ತುಂಬಾ ಕೃತಜ್ಞರಾಗಿರುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಮನದಾಳದ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರಿಂದ ಚಪ್ಪಾಳೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹರ್ಷೋದ್ಗಾರ ಮೊಳಗಿತು.
ಸುಧಾ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ, “ನನಗೆ ತೆಲುಗು ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತೆ ಆದರೆ ನಿರರ್ಗಳವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ನಾನು ತೆಲುಗು ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿರುವ ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ತೆಲುಗು ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ನಾನು ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯೋಚಿಸಿದಾಗ, ನಾನು ಎನ್ಟಿಆರ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಊಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಈ ಗೌರವಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಕೃತಜ್ಞಳಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ನೆಲದ ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಜನರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಭಾವನೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

June 2023: NR Narayana Murthy, the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Infosys, and Sudha Murty, the renowned writer and philanthropist, were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their exceptional contributions. This prestigious recognition was bestowed upon them by NATS (North America Telugu Society) during the 7th Telugu Sambaralu held in New Jersey recently. The esteemed Infosys couple expressed their profound happiness and gratitude for this honor, while NATS considered it a privilege to bestow the award upon them. Sreedhar Appasani, the Convenor of NATS 7th Telugu Sambaralu, remarked, “Personalities of such stature often conduct their own evaluation of an organization before accepting an award. We are truly privileged to have had the opportunity to honor this highly respected couple from India.” Raj Allada, the Deputy Convenor of NATS 7th Telugu Sambaralu and one of the board members of NATS, highlighted the significant impact NR Narayana Murthy had in facilitating the dreams of numerous Telugu families who aspired to pursue opportunities in the United States through their association with Infosys. He referred to Mr.Murthy as a fatherly figure for many technologists and entrepreneurs and acknowledged the overwhelming response from the Telugu audience, evident by their presence in the auditorium and their enthusiastic participation during the Zoom call. This groundbreaking first of its kind event marks a significant milestone in the history of Telugu conventions. Sri Atluri, the Creative Consultant to NATS and a prominent Telugu community leader in the USA, played a crucial role in making this happen and Rao Maddukuri extended his phenomenal support towards realizing this event.
Addressing the audience, Sri Atluri expressed, “It is a tremendous privilege for us to honor this power couple with the Lifetime Achievement award. Your impact and the values you have instilled in us are truly remarkable. Narayana Murthy garu, the path you paved and your transformative role in India’s technology sector are exemplary, and we continue to follow your lesson. Sudha Murty garu! the world learns from your philanthropy and simplicity.” Following these heartfelt words, the Infosys couple received a standing ovation from the audience. NR Narayana Murthy addressed the crowd starting with a Telugu sentence, “Naaku Telugu baaga raadu,” and continued to say, “My grandmother lived in a border town between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. We used to go there every summer, and most people spoke Telugu there, even though it was in Karnataka. The movies we saw were all Telugu – Mayabazar, Pelli Chesi Choodu, Devadas, etc. So, in some sense, we did learn some Telugu, but for the last 50 years, I did not have the privilege of continuing that. However, we have extraordinary respect for Telugu, and my brother Vasudev Murthy, who teaches at a business school in Nebraska, is a proficient Telugu writer. I am honored and moved by your kindness, generosity, and affection. All I can say is that such encouragement from accomplished people like you is what will help me and my wife move forward with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and energy to do whatever little we can. IIFL Finance, one of India’s largest Non-Banking Financial Companies, will open a public issue of secured bonds on June 9, 2023, to raise up to Rs. 1,500 crores, for the purpose of business growth and capital augmentation. The bonds offer up to 9% yield and high degree of safety.
IIFL Finance will issue secured redeemable non-convertible debentures (NCDs), aggregating to Rs 300 crore, with a green- shoe option to retain over-subscription of up to Rs 1200 crore (aggregating to a total of Rs 1,500 crore),
The IIFL bonds offer highest effective yield of 9% per annum for tenor of 60 months. The NCD is available in tenors of 24 months, 36 months and 60 months. The frequency of interest payment is available on annual, at maturity basis and with monthly option for 60-month tenure.
The credit rating has been AA/Stable by CRISIL Ratings and AA/Stable by ICRA, which indicates that the instruments are considered to have a high degree of safety for timely servicing of financial obligations and carry very low credit risk. In Q4 FY23, Moody’s upgraded IIFL Finance’s rating from B2 to B1 (stable).
IIFL Finance’s Group CFO Mr. Kapish Jain said, “IIFL Finance through a strong physical presence of over 4000 branches across India and a well-diversified retail portfolio caters to the credit needs of underserved population. The funds raised will be used to meet credit need of more such customers and accelerate our digital process transformation to enable a frictionless experience.”
He added, “IIFL has an impeccable track record of morethan 25 years and all the bond issues and the debt obligations have always been paid on time.” In April, IIFL Finance duly repaid $400 million worth of dollar bonds, raised through medium-term notes in February 2020.
IIFL Finance is one of India’s largest retail-focused financial services companies. IIFL Finance’s Loan Assets under Management is Rs 64,638 crore as on March 31, 2023. Most importantly, 95% of the book is retail – which is focused on small-ticket loans.
IIFL Finance has consistently maintain ed low level of NPAs over the years of operations and continues to focus on good quality of assets witlG ross NPA of 1.8% and Net NPA of 1.1%. As on March 31 about 73.53 % of the company’s consolidated loan book is secured with adequate collaterals which helps to mitigate risks further.
In FY23, IIFL Finance reported a profit after tax of Rs 1,607.5rore, up 35% on year with a robust return on equity of 19.9%. It has strong relationship with multiple banks and financial institutions.
The lead managers to the issue are Edelweiss Financial Services Limited, IIFL Securities Limited, Equirus Capital Private Limited and Trust Investment Advisors Private Limited. The NCDs will be listed on theBSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), to provide liquidity to investors. The IIFL Bonds would be issued at face value of Rs 1,000 and the minimum application size is Rs 10,000 across all categories. The public issue opens on June 09, 2023 and closes on June 22, 2023, with an option of early closure. The allotment will be made on first come first served basis.
