Fortis Hospital Nagarbhavi Detects Silent Heart Disease in Young Siblings; Performs Life-Saving Bypass Surgeries

Bengaluru, October 10, 2025:
A routine health check-up turned into a life-saving intervention for Chikmagalur-based siblings Neeraj (24) and Neeti (22), when doctors at Fortis Hospital, Nagarbhavi, uncovered a rare and silent form of heart disease. Both siblings, who appeared healthy and had no prior symptoms or medical issues, were diagnosed with Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) — a hereditary condition that causes extremely high cholesterol levels and leads to early-onset coronary artery disease.

Despite their young age and lack of symptoms, advanced cardiac evaluations revealed multiple severe blockages in their coronary arteries, placing them at high risk of a heart attack. Responding promptly, the cardiac surgery team led by Dr. Sudarshan G.T., Additional Director – Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, and Dr. Mathew Maurish Thomas, Associate Consultant – Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, successfully performed Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) surgeries on both siblings on the same day.

Each procedure lasted nearly five hours and was carried out on a beating heart, using the siblings’ own arteries and veins for grafting. Neeti underwent four bypass grafts, while Neeraj received three. Both patients made a strong recovery under close post-operative care and were discharged in stable condition within 10 days.

ಅವರು ದೇಶವ್ಯಾಪಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ “GST ಉಳಿತಾಯ ಉತ್ಸವ”ವು ಪ್ರಧಾನಮಂತ್ರಿ ಶ್ರೀ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿಯವರ ಪರಿವರ್ತನಾತ್ಮಕ ನೀತಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಗ್ರಾಹಕರು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಅವರು ಮುಂದುವರೆದು, ಕಳೆದ 100 ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ “ಸ್ವದೇಶಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸೋಣ (Swadeshi Apnao)” ಅಭಿಯಾನದಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಸುಮಾರು 1100 ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆದಿರುವುದಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳು ಆತ್ಮನಿರ್ಭರ ಭಾರತ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದತ್ತ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರೇರಣಾದಾಯಕ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಸದಸ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ ಪಿರಗಲ್ ಅವರು ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ GST ದರಗಳ ಇಳಿಕೆ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಹಿತಕರ ಕ್ರಮವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶವ್ಯಾಪಿಯಾಗಿ “GST ಉತ್ಸವ” ಆಚರಿಸುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವೂ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು.

ಸಭೆಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಯಾಗಿ “Vocal for Local” ಉಪಕ್ರಮ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯಿತು.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ “ಗರ್ವದಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿ, ಇದು ಸ್ವದೇಶಿ” ಎಂಬ ಪೋಸ್ಟರ್‌ನ್ನು ಅನಾವರಣಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು — ಇದು ಪ್ರಧಾನಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳ ಸ್ವದೇಶಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಗರ್ವದಿಂದ ಬಳಸಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸೋಣ ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಈ ಅಭಿಯಾನದ ರಾಜದೂತರಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೂ ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಅದರ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹಬ್ಬಿಸುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಕೈಗೊಂಡರು.

ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆದಾಯ ತೆರಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ₹12 ಲಕ್ಷದವರೆಗೆ ವಿನಾಯಿತಿ ನೀಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರಿಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿ ದೊರಕಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
