13th State Level Philatelic Exhibition “KARNAPEX 2024- A festival of Stamps” in Bengaluru from 5th to 8th January 2024

KARNATAKA Postal Circle is very happy to organize the 13th State Level Philatelic Exhibition “KARNAPEX 2024- A festival of Stamps” in Bengaluru from 5th to 8th January 2024 at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. The last State Level Philatelic Exhibition was held in 2019 in Mangaluru and now Karnapex-2024 is scheduled in Bengaluru. KARNAPEX 2024 aims to promote philately activities and give an opportunity to Philatelists to compete at State Level and further at National Level.

The exhibition will showcase about 690 frames displaying the rare and unique collection of stamps on various subjects highlighting History, Culture, Art, Heritage, Science, Technology, Flora & Fauna, Wildlife etc through Stamps, Special Covers, Special Cancellations and Pictorial Cancellations. The focus areas on each of the days would be:
5th Jan 2024- History & Culture of Karnataka
6th Jan 2024- Science, Technology & Environment
7th Jan 2024- Mental Health & Sports
8th Jan 2024- Women Empowerment

During the exhibition there will be release of Special Covers on each day.
On 5th January 2024, special covers on “Mascot carried special cover”, “Kaavi Kale”, “Sri. M.V. Visvesvarya (FKCCI)”, “Karnataka @ 50”, “Late Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar”, “100 years of Carlton House”, “100 years of Lalith Mahal” and “Mysore Sandal Soap” will be released.
Special covers on “IISC – Centenary Statue”, “UPI – Digital Revolution in Financial Sector”, “Digital Currency of Bharath”, “Aditya – First Solar Mission of Bharath” and “Bannerghatta Biological Park” will be released on 6th January 2024.
Special covers on “NIMHANS”, “Millets are Good for Health”, “Ragi”, “Jawar Roti”, “Hopscotch or KUNTIBILLE”, “Spinning the Top or Lattu or Bugiri”, “Kambala”, “Pagade”, “Salumanne Aata”, “Ali Guli Manne”, “Chowka Bara”, “Snakes and Ladder”, “Gilli Danda”, “Lagori” and “Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium” will be released on 7th January 2024.
Last day will witness special covers on “Guiness World Record Sea Shell”, “Kafpudi Sakamma” and “Child Marriage is a punishable offence”.
Attractive Picture Post Cards on “Bhagawan Shree Bahubali vaibhav” “Rani Abbakka” “Tourist & Heritage Places” will also be released.

KARNAPEX 2024 has lined up a slew of activities in collaboration with Daak Room for General Public and Students viz., workshops on postcard writing, origami, Mandala Art, Envelope Art, Mural wall art etc. Live all day art counters will be set up for the visitors with Tattoo, Portrait, Caricature artists. Visitors have a chance to win prizes by participating in the impromptu quiz. A Pop-up post office will also be set up to entice the visitors to send a postcard to their loved ones. Visitors can engage in a 5–10-minute conversation with Ms. Ruby Naaz, poetic maestro and get enthralled as she will weave magic to craft a masterpiece poetry. Institutions like ISRO, NIMHANS and Aranya Bhavan will be setting up exciting displays in the arena. Visitors will also get a chance to see the memoirs of Late Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar.

On 9th December 2023 during the Postal Heritage Trail the charming Official Mascot of Karnapex “CHITTIE” was unveiled and the same has become very popular on social media giving wide publicity for KARNAPEX 2024. Selfie points with facility for Polaroid photos are setup to get clicked with Chittie. Street plays were held in Beaulieu on 9th December and at Church Street on 22nd December 2023.

The exhibition venue will have stalls for sale of philately related items viz Stamps, Special Cover, Coins, Ancillaries etc. Department of Tourism, Forest, KMF, KSDL have also setup their stalls for the public visiting the exhibition. Add on to this DOP has also stalls for updation of Aadhaar and My Stamp.
Logo of the event was unveiled at UNESCO identified Heritage Site Halebeedu on 11th October 2023 and a dedicated app for the event was launched at Mysuru on 29th Dec 2023. Social Media Influencers have shown keen interest in the event and are collaborating through social media or physical presence during the event.

On 5th January 2024 morning, Shri. P.C Mohan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Bengaluru Central Constituency will be the Chief Guest. Shri Rizwan Arshad, Hon’ble MLA, Shivajinagar Constituency; Shri. N A Haris, Hon’ble MLA, Shantinagar Constituency; Ms. Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and Shri Ramesh Chandra Lahoti, President, FKCCI will be the Guests of Honor.
Evening of 5th January 2024, Dr. M.A. Saleem, IPS, Carlton House will be the Chief Guest. Shri. Manoj Kumar, IFS, Managing Director, Jungle Lodges & Resorts; Shri. Mohamed Farouk, Director, Ministry of Tourism, GOI; Dr. Ram Prasath Manohar. V, IAS, Director, Department of Tourism, GoK and Shri. Prashanth P K M, IFS, Managing Director, KSDL will be the Guests of Honor.
6th January 2024, the forenoon session will be graced by Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Honorary Distinguished Advisor (ISRO), RRI as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honor will be Shri. N Sudheer Kumar, Director, CBPO, ISRO and Dr. Bitasta Das, Senior Editorial Assistant, IISC.
Evening of 6th January 2024, Shri. Subhash K Malkhede, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) will be the Chief Guest. Guests of Honor – Ms. Harini Nagendra, Director, Azim Premji University and Shri. A V Surya Sen, IFS, Executive Director, Biological Park.
7th January 2024 Sri. B.N Gangadhar , Ex-Director NIMHANS, Chairman (offg), National Medical Commission, New Delhi will be the Chief Guest and Smt. Pratima Murthy, Director, NIMHANS will be the Guest of Honor in the morning session.
In the evening session on 7th January, Shri.B. Nagendra, Minister of Youth Empowerment & Sports, GoK and Dr. K Govindraj, MLC, Political Secretary to Chief Minister, President, Asian Basketball Federation, President, Karnataka Olympic Association will be the Chief Guests. Guests of Honor – Dr. M. P Ganesh, Padmashree Awardee, Olympian and Dr. Ravi Prakash, President, Federation of Historic Vehicles of India.
On the concluding day, morning session, Dr. Susheelamma, NGO, Sumangali Seva Ashram will be the Chief Guest. Guests of Honor – Dr. Mantar Gowda, MBBS, MD, Hon’ble MLA, Madikeri Constituency and Dr. Radha Mallappa, Guinness World Record, Sea Shell Artist.

On 8th January 2024, the valedictory function in the afternoon will be graced by Shri. Thawar Chand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka as the Chief Guest. Ms. Preeti Agrawal, Director (Philately), Dak Bhawan, New Delhi will be the Guest of Honor.
