BOSCON 2026 spotlights future-ready orthopaedic care in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, April 4, 2026: The 29th annual conference of the Bangalore Orthopaedic Society (BOSCON 2026) concluded in the city with a strong focus on advancing evidence-based, patient-centric orthopaedic care, bringing together leading surgeons, academicians and young clinicians for two days of intensive academic engagement.

Organised by the Bangalore Orthopaedic Society in association with HOSMAT Hospitals,  The two-day conference commenced on April 4 and will conclude on April 5. at The Koramangala Club. The event marked a significant gathering of experts from across Karnataka and neighbouring states, reflecting the growing momentum in orthopaedic innovation and education.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor, Pro Chancellor – NITTE University, Past IOA President, as the Guest of Honour, marking a prestigious start to the conference.

Centred on the theme “Keeping PACE in Orthopaedics: Evolving with Evidence,” the conference underscored the importance of Practical Academic Case-based Education (PACE), emphasising real-world clinical decision-making anchored in scientific validation.

The scientific programme featured subspecialty sessions, complex case discussions, expert-led panel debates and orations recognising pioneers in the field. Dedicated platforms were also provided for postgraduate students and early-career surgeons, fostering academic exchange and mentorship.

Key deliberations highlighted the increasing role of robotics, artificial intelligence, biologics and minimally invasive techniques in orthopaedic practice. Experts, however, stressed that the integration of such technologies must remain guided by ethical considerations and robust clinical evidence.

“Orthopaedics is at a defining juncture, balancing a rich legacy with rapid technological progress. The real challenge lies in adopting innovation responsibly, ensuring it translates into better patient outcomes,” said Dr Subodh Shetty, President of BOS.

Echoing this, Dr Shantharam Shetty noted that orthopaedic practice must evolve as a blend of art and science, aligning clinical expertise with evidence-based medicine rather than being driven by commercial interests.

BOSCON 2026, participants said, reinforced the need for continued academic collaboration and knowledge-sharing to shape the future of orthopaedic care, as the field undergoes rapid transformation driven by technology and research.
