IIMB Convocation: 785 Graduate as Vibha Padalkar Urges Long-Term Thinking

At the 51st convocation of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore held on March 27, 2026, a total of 785 students graduated across doctoral and management programmes, marking a significant milestone for the institute. The ceremony saw nine gold medals awarded to top performers, while a PhD scholar was honoured for excellence in research.

Delivering the keynote address, Chief Guest Vibha Padalkar urged the Class of 2026 to focus on long-term impact rather than short-term gains. She emphasised that leadership is shaped by consistent decisions over time and highlighted the importance of resilience, prioritisation and thoughtful decision-making in navigating an evolving business landscape. Drawing from her own journey, she pointed to three pivotal life choices—pursuing finance, returning to India, and selecting the right life partner—as defining moments.

Among the top achievers, Manasi Anju Mertia secured first rank in the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), followed by Dhvit Jayen Mehta. Mayur Dattatray Khule emerged as the Best All-Round Performer across PGP and Business Analytics programmes. Other gold medallists included Bharat Mundra (PGPBA), Aysha Shaba PP (EPGP), Lakshmi R (PGPEM) and Anirudh (PGPPM), among others. Divya Dwivedi, a PhD scholar in Information Systems, received the Institute Research Award 2026.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Malavika R. Harita highlighted the institute’s expanding academic and research footprint, including new centres and global collaborations. Director-in-charge Prof. U Dinesh Kumar spoke of IIMB’s growing focus on sustainability, inclusivity and innovation, noting initiatives such as new undergraduate programmes and greener campus practices.

The event concluded on an emotional note, with graduates celebrating their achievements alongside faculty, alumni and family members.
