Open Heart 2024 hosts Hon’ble Shri Ram Nath Kovind

St. Joseph’s University, renowned for commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility, proudly hosted the 6th edition of Open Heart 2024 on 29th January 2024. Theevent, dedicated to promoting openness, dialogue, and inclusivity, reached new heights as itwelcomed the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Shri Ram Nath Kovind, the 14th President ofIndia. The occasion served as a platform for engaging discussions, cultural celebrations, andthe exchange of ideas aimed at advancing societal progress and unity.

The 6th edition of Open Heart 2024 attracted a diverse audience comprising students, faculty members, researchers, policymakers, and members of civil society. Held at the expansive campus of St. Joseph’s University, the event featured a comprehensive agenda designed tostimulate intellectual discourse and foster a sense of community engagement. Participants had the opportunity to attend a wide range of sessions, including panel discussions, keynote addresses, cultural performances, and interactive workshops, all aimed at addressing pressing issues facing society.

Highlights:

1. Open Heart TalkHon’ble Shri Ram Nath Kovind: The 14th President commended the idea of an Open Heart Talk at St Joseph’s University with light humour. Speaking about hisown humble origins of having experienced the lack of resources, the President highlighted thatit is very important to work hard and stay focused ,he emphasised it is important not to forgetour roots we came from and it is important for every person to give back to his village, townand community, he pointed out the great achievements of the nation in recent years from themilitary feat of building our own Aircraft Carriers; India showcasing its historical heritage tothe major countries through the G20 Summit and the events that followed throughout thecountry to success in the Space sectors with India becoming the first to land in the South Poleof the Moon and Aditya L1 Observatory including XPoSat. He expressed his hope for the students of St Joseph’s University to be the leaders of tomorrow’s India, to achieve much more.He concluded with a last note of the Open Heart of St Joseph’s University as an event that aimsto keep a clean heart and a positive mind taking positive decisions for a positive future.

2. Launch of St. Joseph’s University Gandhian Centre: In a symbolic gesture commemorating the upcoming 76th Shaheed Diwas of Bapu, Mahatma Gandhi Ji, President Kovind unveiled the poster of the establishment of the St. Joseph’s University Gandhian Centre. The center aimsserve as a beacon of Gandhian principles, promoting truth, non-violence, and service to
humanity. It represents the institution’s commitment to nurturing ethical leadership and social responsibility among its students and faculty.

3. Release of International Students Information Brochure: President Kovind also unveiled the International Students Information Brochure, signaling the university’s dedication to global engagement and cultural exchange. The brochure serves as an invitation to talented individuals from around the world to join the vibrant academic community of St. Joseph’s University,enriching the learning experience for all.
