Zee Unveils ‘Zee WRITERS ROOM’ to Discover India’s Future Storytellers

Bengaluru, 15 July 2025 – Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL), one of India’s leading content and entertainment companies, has launched Zee WRITERS ROOM, a unique initiative to identify and mentor emerging screenwriting talent across the country.

This platform is not just a talent search—it is a creative initiative that reflects Zee’s brand philosophy “Yours Truly, Z”, aiming to strengthen its storytelling across television, digital, and film formats. At a time when original and diverse narratives are in demand, Zee WRITERS ROOM seeks to bridge the gap between raw talent and professional storytelling, offering writers a chance to create content across Zee’s vast network.

Launched with a compelling brand film in seven Indian languages, Zee WRITERS ROOM stands for one clear vision: “Opening the doorway of opportunities to the writers of tomorrow – STORIES. SCRIPTS. SCREENS.”

Leaders Speak

Raghavendra Hunsur, Chief Creative Officer, ZEEL, said:
“As one of the country’s biggest storytellers, we see it as our responsibility to shape the next generation of writers. At Zee, we value not just the stories we tell, but the storytellers themselves. Zee WRITERS ROOM is our pledge to support and mentor fresh voices, unique ideas, and honest emotions from across India. This is not a competition—it’s a platform for long-term growth. Our aim is to equip writers with the skills, confidence, and space to create impactful stories.”

Kartik Mahadev, Chief Marketing Officer, ZEEL, added:
“Through Zee WRITERS ROOM, we’re taking a step forward in enhancing the craft of storytelling and building a strong community of writers who can bring fresh, diverse, and differentiated narratives to life.”

Samrat Ghosh, Chief Cluster Officer – East, North, and Premium Cluster, commented:
“Bengal has always been a cradle of literature and cinema. This initiative offers a modern platform for Bengali writers to express themselves and contribute stories that blend tradition with contemporary ideas.”

Siju Prabhakaran, Chief Cluster Officer – South and West, said:
“South and West India are home to vibrant storytelling cultures. Zee WRITERS ROOM will help refine and channel this creativity into structured, high-quality content suited for TV, OTT, and cinema.”

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to aspiring writers with a creative edge—whether self-taught or formally trained—who may have displayed their talent in college festivals, digital spaces, or writing forums but haven’t yet entered the professional screenwriting industry. This is not a basic writing course, but an advanced program aimed at refining and preparing participants for professional content creation.

Selection Process:
Participants will undergo a four-stage selection process:

Written Test: Candidates attend a selection event and complete a writing test.

Shortlisting: A committee evaluates the submissions and selects the top 10%.

Interview Round: Finalists face an interview by a panel of industry experts.

Final Induction: The top 100 will join the Zee WRITERS ROOM to develop content under professional mentorship.

In total, 70 fresh writers and 30 emerging writing professionals will be trained to conceptualize stories, build character arcs, and structure narratives suitable for Zee’s TV, film, and OTT platforms.
