Bangaluru, 10th Jan, 2019:
The 62nd All India Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists was officially inaugurated today (January 9, 2019) and the new leadership team of FOGSI (Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India) took over the organization for 2019 at a grand function attended by thousands of doctors at Palace grounds in Bengaluru.
Sri Sri Ravishankar, who was the chief guest, gave few words of wisdom, advice and road map to the doctors dealing with women’s health.
In his soft voice Sri Sri first made the doctors realize the gap that exists in India in terms of healthcare availability. He said, even though the medical field has made advances in diagnostic methods and treatment, its reach is limited to certain areas. Advanced healthcare is yet to reach the rural India, he said in an admonishing tone.
The guru also complimented the doctors for bringing children into this beautiful world. He wanted the FOGSI community to adopt a holistic approach in taking care of pregnant women. Combine all disciplines of medicine to have a holistic pregnancy care, he told the doctors.
The doctors and healthcare workers were also told by Sri Sri to take care of their own health. He quoted a study by AIIMS to say that over 60% of doctors themselves suffered from ill health. Practice meditation, yoga and pranayama to relax and stay focused was his prescription for the doctors gathered at the AICOG 2019.
Later Sri Sri released a special edition of stamp brought out for the occasion.
At the same function the outgoing president of FOGSI Dr Jaideep Malhotra spoke of her tenure and programmes held under leadership. She passed on the reigns of FOGSI to Dr Nanditha Palshetkar.
In her acceptance speech, Dr Nanditha Palshetkar, who has prepared an elaborate agenda for her leadership period, unveiled various events and campaigns for 2019. Her main focus is ‘we for stree’ Safer, Stronger, Smarter. She wants to make women feel safe, become strong and operate smartly. She credited her achievements to her family and close friends.
FOGSI has a new leadership and new goals for women.
