Befitting tribute to CCD founder; RRMC riders undertake 400 km motorcycle rally as a mark of respect to V G Siddhartha

BENGALURU, August 4, 2019:
In a befitting tribute to late V G Siddhartha, founder, Café Coffee Day (CCD), members of India’s largest group of motorcycle riders & enthusiasts, Riders Republic Motorcycle Club (RRMC), undertook a motorcycle rally to Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh from Bengaluru. The rally was flagged off from the CCD Square, Vittal Mallya Road, Bengaluru on 4th August, Sunday, 2019.

The organisers of the motorcycle rally paid rich tributes to the late Siddhartha for his contributions to the Indian beverage sector, retail sector and moreover, the direct and indirect support that he lent to motorcycle riders.
CCD and Siddhartha hold special place in the hearts of long-distance motorcycle riders. Majority of the riders from RRMC have covered the length and breadth of the country and the CCD outlets spread across the nation are default pitstops for them.

Commenting on the motorcycle rally, Dileep N Vijaydev, Organising Secretary, RRMC, said, “CCD revolutionised not only the way Indians consume coffee, but has had many cascading effects on other segments, like bike touring. This tragedy is a great loss for humanity. We wanted to pay tribute by organising this rally upto Penukonda where we will stop at important CCD outlets and pay tribute to the departed soul.”

Many of the riders recalled their association with CCD. “I am sure that everyone remembers the cyber café era. CCD was the only one brand, which made it big and created a chain of outlets from urban to rural areas across the country. I am sure many of us will relate to various meetings, greetings, memories and of course our favourite coffee be it hot or cold,” said RRMC Secretary Manjunath Siddappa.

In the last few years, biking has become an integral part of society, as more and more passionate riders are exploring the corners of the country on two wheelers. “It is always tough to find a place that is welcoming and which makes you feel like home. CCD outlets always provided that kind of feeling for riders like us when we wanted to take a break,” added Manjunath.
More than 50 riders, representing multiple brands of adventure bikes, tourers, cruisers and classics undertook the motorcycle ride for 400 kms (Bengaluru-Penukonda-Bengaluru). Employees of CCD were also part of the ride.
