“Sustainable fashion is getting more popular in India against the current backdrop of textile pollution as a sign of being responsible and sensible towards environment”, said Mr. T.R. Sivaram, Managing Director, Classic Polo.
ReNoV denim collection from CLASSIC POLO is made of Plastic bottles collected from garbage locale, cleaned, sorted, crushed into flakes and made into a polyester fibre in turn blended with cotton fibre and finally woven with traditional cotton yarn to createReNoV. CLASSIC POLO has intentionally embraced superior lazer technology, where by the water has been removed from the process, and the number of wet-washing cycles has been cut by combining steps resulting in absolute cut-back of water usage in manufacturing course. It is proven that recycling plastic reduce air, water and land pollution. Thus, buying products made from recycled plastic bottles indirectly help to create a sustainable living environment. Reports say,
In India, 80% of total plastic consumption is discarded as waste and official statistics state that the country generates 25,940 tonnes of waste daily. At least 40% of this is uncollected. As per CPCB (central pollution control board) reports, plastic contributes to 8% of the total solid waste, households generate maximum plastic waste, of which water and soft drink bottles form a large number. In India, around 43% of manufactured plastics are used for packaging purpose and most are of single use. Plastic debris affects at least 267 species worldwide, including 86% of all marine species, 44% of all seabird species, and 43% of all marine mammal species.
CLASSIC POLO has plans to increase more awareness and involve customers to participate in this movement by making them deposit bottles with the brand and collect their ReNoV with a rebate to create awareness among the customers not only to purchase a sustainable product but also support a cause beyond fashion Industry
