On behalf of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, I wish the Honourable Prime Minister, Vanakkam.
I also extend my greetings, to Central Ministers, and Leaders of other Political Parties, who are present here.
Firstly, I pay my respects to the soldiers, who fought till the very end, defending our country.
I extend my condolences to the families of all these brave-hearts, including the family of Havildar Palani, from my State of Tamil Nadu.
As the Honourable Prime Minister had said, the sacrifices of these soldiers, who have lost their lives, will never go waste.
These sacrifices will further unite our country, and give strength to our citizens.
We face a difficult situation today. On one hand, we are dealing with COVID-19, and, on the other, this Chinese aggression.
As far as the DMK is concerned, we have always stood in support, of the national interests, on all such occasions.
There are different parties here, with different ideologies.
Nevertheless, we are all united, when it comes to patriotism, and in our hope, that our fellow citizens have a better future.
All of us here, share the belief that our borders must be protected. There can be no differences about that.
The DMK Leader Perarignar Anna once said: “Only if there is a house, we can change the roof.” The national priority now, must be, to protect, our home, that is India.
We believe that India can overcome any challenge to her land and her citizens.
As far as the DMK is concerned,
During the 1962, Indo-China War,
During the 1971, Indo-Pakistan War,
During the 1999, Kargil War,
We have always stood with the country, its citizens, and its Government.
We have always worked to strengthen the hands of the Prime Ministers, be it Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru or Indira Gandhi or Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Today, we have no hesitation in supporting the Prime Minister Thiru. Narendra Modi, who has convened this All-Party Meeting.
During the 1962 Indo-China War, the DMK was the first political party to condemn China.
We collected money, and donated it for the India’s Defense Fund.
Our leader Dr. Kalaignar once said, the DMK party cadres are righteously the “Sons of the Soil” with great pride, and responsibility to the motherland.
The DMK Party has grown out of the vision of leaders, such as Perarignar Anna and Muththamizharignar Kalaignar who prioritized national interest, at every opportunity.
Today, following in the footsteps of these great leaders, I am proud to lead a party, which is committed to the patriotic spirit, and protecting the idea of India.
I kindly recall that during the 1962 War, one of the first soldiers we lost, was Selvaraj from Thoothukudi district, in Tamil Nadu.
Today, nearly 58 years later, Tamil Nadu has sacrificed another son, Havildar Palani.
The DMK, and the people of Tamil Nadu, are always at the forefront, when it comes to defending our country.
I welcome the statement of the Prime Minister, that India will protect her self-respect, and every single inch of its territory, from any external aggression.
As President of the DMK, I was glad to hear the Prime Minister state that India wants peace, but it will not hesitate to retaliate, if needed.
Therefore, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam stands firmly, with the Prime Minister, at this moment, in regard to any steps he must take to protect the integrity, and sovereignty of India.
We will not retreat, when the battle cry is sounded.
Let us go forth, as a country together, and restore, the pride of India.
