FLIPPED CLASS ROOM BY Chaya Gopalan, Ph.D., FAPS, Professor, Departments of Applied Health & Nurse Anesthesiology

The purpose of my visit through the Fulbright Scholar Award is to share a new and a practical teaching methodology with the faculty in Rural College Kanakapura. This reform is overdue especially in the rural communities.

During the first phase of this project, I studied the current teaching practice through surveys and focus group interviews. Subsequently, I introduced a student-centered instructional method called “the flipped classroom.” Faculty are now implementing this teaching method in their classrooms. I will study 1) faculty experience in designing, implementing and refining their teaching method; 2) the benefits and challenges they face as they adapt this new technique. Faculty will eventually serve as the ambassadors of change that would help students become better learners and stronger citizens said Chaya Gopalan, Ph.D., FAPS, Professor, Departments of Applied Health & Nurse Anesthesiology, at press meet held at press club of Bangalore.
