Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital marks decade of eye care service in Mysuru

Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital has completed 10 years of operations in Mysuru, commemorating the milestone with a patient interaction programme at its Kuvempunagar branch on Tuesday. Former Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha unveiled a plaque marking the hospital’s “Decade of Excellence” celebrations.

The hospital, which began operations in Mysuru in 2016 as a cataract speciality centre, has since expanded into a network of seven facilities offering tertiary-level services in cataract, retina, glaucoma and refractive care. The expansion includes centres at Kuvempunagar, MCC, Jayalakshmipuram, Kushal Nagar, Hunsur, Kollegala and Virajpete.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the hospital has announced free consultations and cataract evaluations across its Mysuru facilities till June 30, 2026. The offer is available through prior registration.

Hospital authorities said all its Mysuru units are empanelled under the Karnataka government’s Yeshashvini Health Insurance Scheme, besides CGHS, ECHS and ESIC, enabling access to subsidised treatment for a wider section of patients.

During the event, doctors highlighted a few complex cases handled by the hospital over the years. One such case involved a patient suffering from vertigo, whose condition made it difficult to undergo conventional cataract surgery. Doctors adopted customised positioning and surgical planning to complete the procedure successfully and restore the patient’s vision.

In another case, an 85-year-old woman with a severe mature cataract, who had earlier been considered inoperable, underwent successful surgery at the hospital. The procedure helped restore her vision and independence, doctors said.

The two patients were felicitated during the programme in recognition of their treatment journeys and recovery.

Speaking at the event, Pratap Simha said the hospital had played a significant role in strengthening advanced eye care services in Mysuru over the past decade.

Dr Kavitha Vadi, Head of Clinical Services, said the milestone reflected the trust placed by patients in the institution. She noted that the hospital had increasingly managed complex cases locally, reducing the need for patients to travel to metro cities for advanced treatment.

Dr Pavan V. Joshi, Head of Clinical Services, said many eye conditions required customised surgical planning and careful evaluation, adding that the hospital’s focus remained on combining innovation with patient-centred care.
