VIP Karnataka Unit Condemns Arrest of Mukesh Sahni, Raises Concerns Over Encounter Killing

Bengaluru, June 13: The Karnataka unit of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) has strongly criticised the arrest of its national founder and former Bihar Minister Mukesh Sahni and the alleged encounter killing of Kamlesh Bind in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing a press conference at the Bengaluru Press Club, State President Mohan Kumar B.K. accused the Uttar Pradesh government of undermining democratic values and bypassing established legal procedures.

Mr. Mohan Kumar alleged that Mr. Sahni was arrested unlawfully in public and questioned the circumstances surrounding the death of Kamlesh Bind. He claimed that members of Bind’s family were not permitted to view the body following the encounter. Stressing the importance of due process, he said that individuals accused of wrongdoing should be produced before a court of law and tried in accordance with constitutional provisions.

He further alleged that a climate of fear was being created for those who question the ruling dispensation and held both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath politically accountable for the prevailing situation.

The VIP leader also criticised Union Minister and Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad, accusing him of remaining silent despite what he described as injustices faced by members of the Nishad and Koli communities. He urged Mr. Nishad to resign from his position if he was unable to safeguard the interests of the community.

Referring to promises made to Nishad and Koli communities during previous election campaigns, Mr. Mohan Kumar alleged that several assurances remain unfulfilled. Instead, he claimed that members of these communities continue to face discrimination and marginalisation.

He said the Nishad and Koli communities, along with their various sub-groups, constitute a significant voter base across the country. Alleging attempts to divide the community through differing classifications in various States, he called for greater unity among community members.

Warning of intensified protests if their concerns are not addressed, Mr. Mohan Kumar said the party would organise demonstrations against the Union and Uttar Pradesh governments in the coming days.

VIP Karnataka General Secretary Prashanth A.H. was also present at the press conference.
