Bengaluru,2026: In an effort to raise awareness about retinal disorders and prevent avoidable vision loss, Vasan Eye Care Hospital will conduct a three-day retina awareness initiative, “Retina Pink Day,” at its Marathahalli and HSR Layout centres from August 8 to 10, 2026.
The campaign is designed to educate the public about retinal diseases, with a special focus on diabetic retinopathy, one of the leading causes of preventable blindness. Through this initiative, the hospital aims to encourage early screening, prompt diagnosis and timely treatment to help preserve eyesight.
Retina specialists at Vasan Eye Care Hospital said people living with diabetes face a significantly higher risk of retinal damage. Since diabetic retinopathy often develops without noticeable symptoms in its initial stages, they stressed the importance of regular retinal examinations. Diabetic individuals are advised to undergo a comprehensive retinal check-up at least once every six months, even if they do not experience any vision-related complaints.
The awareness programme is particularly recommended for people who have been living with diabetes for more than three years, adults aged 40 years and above, and individuals experiencing symptoms such as blurred vision, floaters, flashes of light or other signs associated with retinal disorders.
As part of the campaign, Vasan Eye Care Hospital is offering free retina investigations worth ₹4,000. The package includes Fundus Photography, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanning, other retina investigations as recommended by the specialist, and a complimentary consultation with an experienced retina surgeon.
The Marathahalli branch will be served by Dr. Manoj (Phaco & Retina Surgeon), Dr. Kahnish Khare (Phaco, Refractive & Medical Retina Surgeon), and Dr. Bhavya Gorimanipalli (Cornea, Cataract & Refractive Surgeon). The campaign will be held at Vasan Eye Care Hospital’s Marathahalli centre located at Anand Nagar, Chinnappanahalli, Outer Ring Road, and at its HSR Layout centre on the 1st Floor, 17th Cross, near the BDA Complex in 7th Sector.
